I was totally against the use of 5 subs but I didn't realise that the season is being played in a shorter period and as there's also the chance of more players missing out with covid as well as the extra injuries, as long as it's scrapped as soon as the world gets back to near normal I'm now ok with the extra subs.

you joke, but I do wonder if the 16 odd clubs have played this very very well for themselves. They have delayed the 5 subs and let them and Man city struggle massively with injuries at the start of the season, when having 5 subs would have been a huge huge advantage.

Now, I think it's beneficial to everyone & will get introduced, but perhaps some serious damage done at city and liverpool already.
Even without the extra subs IMO they would still finish first and second.

Not so sure on Liverpool. their current squad for sure, but they way they're "falling like flies" it could get alot worse.

I would also argue from now to end of the season, City and Liverpool will benefit against the other 18 if it stays at 3 subs, there are probably the only two who have swap 5+ players from first 11 and still win games. I think the penny is starting to drop with the other 16 teams that they really need the 5 subs now.

Why 5 subs now? Because Liverpool have had injuries? What's changed since the start of the season to now? That's the only thing, they knew the fixture pile up was going to be hard from the start

because James V southampton &

Partially because liverpool have put an overexagerated lense on it; but mainly because injuries (soft tissue specifically) are so much higher than last year. PL is now the only league in Europe with out 5 subs & 3 subs is effectively becoming two subs now, because managers need to keep one in their back pocket.

Let's bring the 5 minute drinks break back incase Liberpewl get a bit thirsty.

17 managers in the PL have used more subs than Guardiola this season. That's why I don't understand him banging on about it (and I'm a City fan). He doesn't use the subs he has available now - so how will increasing it to 5 subs help him?

Yes, feels like an oxymoron alright. Two points, I would raise is...

1) I suspect city are most "changed" 11 from game to game
2) I would guess he feels he needs to keep one sub in his back pocket in case of injury. City have had 18 different (granted all minor) injuries this season

We don't need to look to far to see the frustration of injured players hobbling around after 3 subs made, we had one against Southampton with James & I'm sure it is something Pep is keen to avoid.

I know i have banged on about this for a while so apologies for that, but I genuinely believe that this is not about the top 3 or 4 teams medium term, but actually the benefit (or rather damage if not change) is with the smaller squads, who will really be hit hard when everyone moves to two games a week in December.

He used 1 against Liverpool and Klopp used 2 subs when 3 could have been used yet then cry that they need 5, if they are that bothered about protecting players use the squad, rotate and use all 3 subs every single time

Stop the season now! Start it up again late Feb / Early March when hopefully the vaccine is in full flow and the virus in retreat. End season June / July.

Play the Euros in 2022 and scrap the pathetic Qatar winter World Cup (hence no need for qualifiers). Scrap the Nations League.

Start 2021/22 in Sept again.

I think if the league is stopped again then it just needs binning altogether this season, can't have last year's farse of getting it completed in a shorter time to accommodate the next season which in turn brings more problems to player fitness

Also on another note, once the league start bringing in rule changes like extra subs and water breaks like we've seen then the season is compromised and illegitimate anyway
