Agreed - clearly not a victory, but I didn't suggest that. I think they will be pleased that they have provoked this strategic review, or at least they are arrogant enough to congratulate themselves for it.

Completely with you on how transparent the greed is, any notion of care is gone

I doubt it mate. It got laughed out. The fact it was phrased as "taking the interests of the 20 not 2" is a real put down. They have just seen their influence dwindle.

I can see what they attempted to do. They just did it very badly. I'm amazed everything was thrown out, at first reading.

The strategic review is essentially all they got from it, with everything else being ridiculed and thrown out.

Well that’s that for now. Hopefully the absolutely repulsive scum clubs that want to take the league away from the fans entirely stop getting the favourable media coverage and officiating decisions they’re blessed with at the moment as a result of this nonsense.

Also Liverpool vs United can never be referred to as a “derby” ever again, it is now a self serving love in.

I would agree if they had lost a vote 18-2; that's humiliating. Strategic review being unanimously voted in suggests there was some sort of collective buy-in.

"Everton chief executive, Denise Barrett-Baxendale, demanded an apology from Liverpool and United, who were represented by Tom Werner and Ed Woodward, club chairman and executive vice-chairman, respectively."

Damn straight.

Nice to see Everton come down on the right side of the fence on this.

I agree, but I think it's naive to think we aren't going to have to concede something to them given they're the teams with most worldwide appeal and revenue-drawing potential. Whether we like it or not, if they threw their toys out of the pram and embarked on a closed shop European Super League, we'd be left in a glorified version of the Championship and all the money and better players would follow.

I don't think anyone needs to bend to their will, the PL doesn't have a weak hand. Personally, I can't see it happening. It would mean clubs in Germany, Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, etc all pulling the plug. What would happen to the Champions League and that revenue? Theres the Club World Cup but who really gives two hoots about watching that? It's a joke trophy and that won't change.

It wouldn't be the end of the world if that did happen. I know it's maybe easier for me to say as I don't watch too much football outside of Coventry, Everton & England games. It would mean less money in the game, sure but that would mean more competition. The Championship for example, there is some great, entertaining games. How many times do the favourites win the league? Let alone trying to predict who will finish in the top 6?
