Quarter Finals

Both Henderson and Bellingham worked incredibly hard, they had to as French stretch the pitch extremely wide. You wanting to play a single centre mid against the best team in the tournament is utter hysteria. The vast majority can see that your assessment is tactically illiterate.
So to sum up the above: Play an aging, docile, do-nothing in an England shirt, Henderson, instead of Grealish, who has real talent and could have caused the French real problems.

Henderson & Bellingham achieved absolutely NOTHING last night...

I would respectfully suggest that your line of thinking is tactically illiterate.

I think maybe you should go outside and yell at some clouds to cheer yourself up a bit

He was at fault for the first goal: miles off Tchouameni and sold Pickford down the swanny by allowing the ball to travel through his legs. Later, he was trying to get Hernandez sent off after the penalty was awarded, despite the foul not denying a goalscoring opportunity as Mount was not in control of it, and added even further delay before Kane could launch into orbit.

He's a very talented player - but as always with England the hype is ludicrous.
I question how talented he really is tbh.

Yes, he's a decent player. But he's in the Bundesliga where most teams are pretty ropey, and he's played well for England against a few dodgy international teams.

If I were United or Liverpool Ild be waiting this one out to see what he could really offer.

Found out last night big time.

I know a hell of a lot happened afterward so I'm going to point out that Messi's assist is one of the greatest passes in the history of this tournament. He took 6 defenders out with one pass to a player he never actually looked at. There will never be another like him.
Noticed him look before he took another player on, and the nplayed the pass.
I thought France were there for the taking last night but England didn't have enough spark to create more chances. Problem being Southgate didn't have enough faith in his defence to go more attacking earlier on.

Still though, a decent World Cup given their form going into it. Sacking Southgate would be harsh but I think 3 international tournaments is a big stint and it wouldn't hurt to have fresh ideas for what is by international standards a strong group of players.
The next manager will be worse than Southgate. Semi final, final and knocked out against France after missed pen and the better side.
It’s a decent record.

Another bit of nonsense from last night was the reaction to the ref's performance.

IMO he had a very good game. The one thing he got wrong was when Saka was clearly bundled over by a French player (Hernandez?) and gave nothing for it.

The challenge for the Kane 'penalty' first half was clearly outside the box.

The first one in the second half he gives it straight away.

The second penalty he allowed to play on because it's a decision you allow others in the VAR booth to make a call on these days. That's just the nature of the officiating of games now.

He judged well throughout what was a dive or genuine foul.

The stick he was getting off Dixon and the ITV commentaor divvy and the HT panelists was pathetic.

Oliver will probably get the final, but if Argentina dont beat Croatia he may get it.

Thought Henderson was off the pace last night. But agree with the tactics. We were the better side.

For someone who cares nothing for England, you comment more than anyone

I cant agree.

First half was France's. They ran the show.

Second half England came out and looked threatening for the first 15 minutes but didn't build on it. France were threatening a goal well before it came in the 77th(?) minute and easily game managed the rest of it.

I think this bit of comfort the England lot are tring to hold onto - that they were the better team - is well wide of the mark. The reverse was true.

I think you should get back to reality and stop posting insults to members, just because they have a different opinion to yours. It's called having a mature outlook, which I have. I'll leave the rest of the conclusion to others...

I would have swapped him for Phillips at 60 min mark to get a bit more technical ability on the pitch, but like you I don't think you can start someone else that changes the shape. France had about 3 shots on goal in 90 mins, that's down to getting the shape right.
