Seem to remember being 2-0 up against already relegated Carlisle Utd at HT and lost 2-3 at home , in the Paddock that day , the guy that caused the problems was also a pro cricketer can't remember his name .

I think we could have given Billy more time as a manager especially after signing McKenzie and Rioch.

Was he sacked after the League Cup Semi final or before?

Remember Dobson and Colin Todd in the same team. Two Rolls Royce's. I think Todd was only with us for one season but you could see his class immediately.

Only us could bring in probably the best sweeper in the country then play him at right back?

That game was December so they were not already relegated at that point but they were adrift and dead certs to go down. The defeat in the away game at Easter was a sickener and we absolutely threw the league away that season.

Pretty sure he was sacked after the FA Cup game against Stoke, a game we won 2:0 with McKenzie at his best.

BB was sacked after beating Stoke 2-0 in FA Cup 3rd round. Burtenshaw was manager for first leg of LC semi v Bolton and 4th round away at Swindon which was drawn. Lee in for the Swindon replay and win in second leg of LC at Bolton.
