Interesting photo. I didn't see Benitez as the kind of manager who'd put his arm around a player. Also good to see it's Godfrey, the future of the club.

He didn't used to. A lot of people have said he's mellowed a lot over the years.

Indeed mate and it's quite a shock to me seeing an Everton manager not delegating and actively getting involved properly in training sessions with the entire team and giving out instructions. I am liking what i am seeing after just 1 week. Got a good feeling about this appointment and maybe controversy might turn out to be exactly what the club needed to change years of meh.

Unless something catastrophic goes wrong he will still be here in 3 yeas time.

In China they were only allowed to field 3 foreign players in the starting 11. The goalkeeper had to be Chinese. They didn't follow his instructions and there was mistranslation between Rafas coaching staff and the Chinese interpreters. Dalian were also a recently promoted side who's ambition was to stay i the Premier league. Rafael was brought in to over see their academy and prepare them for the future, where producing homegrown talent was more important that anything else.

Whatever you think of his time in China, its irrelevant.
