He ditched Newcastle to go and collect fat stacks in China???

He ditched Newcastle because Ashley broke promises on several occasions, even then he was close to re-signing with them.

He went to China because there were no jobs available that summer. He could have waited until January or he could get paid 12 million per year, what would you do?

It's not true that's why.

He was wanted by West Ham and Arsenal in 2018, but they were unwilling to pay his buyout fee. Spain also wanted him to manage the national team, but again Ashley demanded they pay a buyout fee.

He was wanted by us in 2019, but the compensation was too high and he was unable to get out of his contract. He was also wanted by Celtic, Arsenal and West Ham again.
Dead easy to make things up on the internet.

If you guys are thinking Steve Bruce did well, the foundation was there.

He wasted 40mn on Joelinton & Bought ASM for 17mn, who was injury prone. But had to rely on ASM, to finish 12th. Spent and still the same.

How did he fail?

He left them as an established mid table premier league club.

He left due to empty promises and a lack of ambition.

He had multiple offers on the table from Ashley.

He didn’t “fail”, but he achieved no more than Steve Bruce has there, or Alan Pardew did. Mid table with Newcastle is not an achievement, they are traditionally a mid table club.

We know he has some journos eating out of the palm of his hand so I don't put too much value in this at all.

Did you read the whole article? How many from the list of players he signed there have they sold on for a profit? They took a loss on nearly all of them. That's why Ashley cut the purse strings.

They've got Dwight Gayle and DeAndre Yedlin down as a success which tells you how ridiculous those ratings are.

Got it, Pep Guardiola and Steve Bruce bad, Rafael Benitez good. It's really weird that you are a fan of a manager ahead of being a fan of any particular club especially when that manager is a beached Iberian cetacean who hasn't done anything of note in years.
