Yep, super flat and can’t even be excited about the season only being a week away.

My hatred for Carlo increases when he was saying there would be money to spend, yet makes it easy to understand he was happy to jump ship as he probably knew we can’t spend.

i wish I understood the rules better to know how long will we be hamstrung by this FFP issue
Can someone layout what exactly the FFP rules are and how it would affect a team that went outside them?
Is there restrictions domestically or is it just for European competition?
FFP rules seemed to come into affect when teams like City and PSG got to the top of the spending tree and the established rich clubs were beginning to feel their place at the top of European football was under threat. It hasn't helped teams lower down the leagues getting into difficulties, where the punishment for breaking FFP rules seem to put them under real financial pressure.

FFP is a term which includes both the European and PL rules. It’s the profit and sustainability ones which concern us as far as I’m aware as they are PL rules. No idea what possible sanctions would be for breaching them.

There are plenty of experts online who discuss all these things. Swiss Rambler and the like.

Why can't we just roll the dice and find out ?
I guess the concern is what the sanctions could possibly be. Points deductions or a transfer ban? Could imagine a fine wouldn’t too much of a deterrent if the owner is prepared to thumb his nose at the rules.

There’s also an issue of credibility here I imagine. After, apparently, having been one of the leading advocates for sanctions against the SKY 6 over the Super League, it would look a bit ridiculous if the club just told the rest of the PL to take a running jump in respect of agreed financial rules.

Every excuse under the sun coming out for under investment - file under new stadium, he who shall remain nameless and anything else you care to dream up.

If FFP is really the issue, you'd think there is still somewhere that USM could throw some sponsorship at to give us a quick bump to buy a RB.
we already have the league's best RB...yes, Seamus needs to work on his crosses, but were a PL first XI chosen today, Seamus would be the first name selected. Perhaps I view things a little distorted by blue tinted specs, but I also think Leighton Baines would be chosen as LB. Our squad is incredibly strong...I will be massively disappointed if we finish lower than 12th.

There are European FFP rules and PL financial sustainability rules.

Forger the European rules for now, we are struggling with the PL rules which allow up to £105 cumulative losses over three seasons.

We have declared £240m losses in the last two seasons, meaning a £135m hole. We are able to offset some of these losses against COVID, the stadium costs and the ladies team.

No one accurately knows where this leaves us, but the estimate I have seen suggests we are still £10m adrift so still have to sell and reduce the wage bill.

Never been so uninterested and underwhelmed in a start of a football season with this manager and recent signings.
Theres hardly a mention of anything related to us in the media even and sweet f-a from our new manager or the club regards tomorrow at OT and, moreover, the imminent start to the season. Underwhelmed here too... to say the least

They’ve put plenty up about tomorrow, including plans to honour the heroes of the pandemic, ticket arrangements for next weeks opener and requirements for the game. It’s odd that they haven’t put any training photos/videos up this week though, especially with JP, DCL and Yerry back

I did mean concerning the team and the players not the peripheral stuff.
