And the next manager you want and ask for others on here / at the ground wont and we go around in circles.

Ancelotti was the last manager we've had since Kendall that united the fanbase - even Moyes was split towards his latter years.

Its a pipe dream that the next steady eddie appointment wont have 50% of the fanbase on his back the first bad run of form we go on.
It isn't though.

We had bad runs under Koeman and Silva and people gave them the first year to find their feet. When they started the second year horribly after a big summer of money spent people turned. Also, they got that patience on the back of finishing in 7th and 8th respectively which appears to be beyond Benitez clearly even at this early point of the season (so much so I have seen shouts Evertonians should be pleased should we finish as low as 15th this year, unbelievable shouts.).

Benitez was always going be given less patience than everyone else. In the state we are in right now where patience is required he was not the right man for the job. It was always an inevitability that things would become especially toxic quickly if he went on a run like this, it wouldn't have been the case for others. They aren't all ex-kopites that have belittled the club and refused to apologize for it.

The next manager will have 90% plus support after this awful period. Any slight bit of hope and people will get behind it.

We are in a hopeless situation at the minute, and football without hope is pointless.

I honestly doubt it. Fans turned on Koeman 8 games into his 2nd season after guiding us into Europe. Alladyce was hated early doors despite doing an "ok" job.

Fans turned on Silva largely after 8+ months itcwas only that purple patch spell towards the end of his first season that saved him but then we turned pretty quickly in his 2nd.

No manager can turn this club around in 12-18 months and thats all you get with our fans in the Moshiri era.

Be a funny year if you needed over 40, not impossible mind.

You look at teams such as Newcastle, Villa and Leeds and expect them to spend alot of money in January and/or bring in new managers. The rest of them bar Norwich have enough about them to achieve 40pts.

To be fair I don't think it's his job to sell players, that's Brands & not many of our players we want rid of have a big value

Because unfortunately most PL DOF's haven't recently undergone a lobotomy mate lol

Who in the right mind would cough up £15-20 million for Iwobi or Delph or Davies?

Only we/Brands are stupid enough to do that!

This again?

To sell them, somebody would have to want to buy them and for the majority of the squad, no other team is actually stupid enough to pay real money for them

So, the 'general' response is "who would buy them"?

Basically not a single one of Digne, Nkounkou, Keane, Holgate, Coleman, Kenny, Delph, Gomes, Davies, Iwobi and Allan...could have achieved any fee?

As in zero?

Alternatively, he couldnt have suggested extensions for players which would have spread their fees on the books to release funds?

Doesnt sound to me like he knew who he wanted at the club and preferred to just 'go with what he had' along with five additions on the wage bill.

Then see what happened over the season.

Reactive and not proactive, yet he was proactive moving James on...
For me, its not so much the selling (or lack thereof) of players, its the way he's using the players.
Last year, we did that weird set up on set pieces were we lined up further out. At the time, it looked weird, everyone questioned it, but it was effective. The stats bear that out. We've reverted to a more traditional approach now, and as Carragher mentioned last night, its a hark back to the Silva days.
Ancelloti managed the team effectively. It wasn't pretty most of the time but it did what it needed to, probably up til the point he was informed of the financial situation and he lost interest.
Benitez isnt managing this team and he needs to figure that out quickly rather than waiting for transfer windows. As a not so wise man once said 'you go to war, not with the army you want, but the one that you've got.'
Id be surprised if he watched any of our performances from last season as (like you say) hes dismantled our defensive structure.

You saw how ruthless he was with Rodrigues. What about Gomes, Gbammin, Tosun, Delph, Iwobi, Davies, Keane, Siggi, Kenny, Holgate

Made a big deal about how much he watched us, why didn’t he go to the ends of the earth to get these guys out.

100% my point.

I had him winning these Watford and wolves games to buy himself breathing room before that run. Without that credit in the bank it is a matter of time before the board are going to be forced to sack him.

I had us at 24pts after 13 games.

Without that cushion then the games following I predicted we'd fall off.

Allardyce was appointed against the overwhelming feeling of the support, just like benitez. You can't compare those appointments with others. If you appoint people who are unpopular then it's not very smart and suggests there is zero regard for loyal supporters.

The fans were right not to accept Allardyce football as well because it is football that comes with an admission of defeat. The ceiling is so low it's barely worth bothering. He brings no hope of better days, just like this Benitez appointment, and football without hope of better is a waste of time. When I don't believe things will get better then I need to stop investing myself in something. That's why I will not be watching live matches under Benitez for the next while at least.

I can accept us being crap, but I cannot accept us being crap with no hint of improving in the future. Everyone at the club should be thoroughly embarassed and considering their position.

No Benitez fan but would 15 from 24 be enough to make up for the last few games? wins against Leicester, Brentford and Palace and then two wins against one of those 'bigger' sides?
If we get 15 points from those games I would be staggered. Clearly if he got that return he would be doing a good job. I'm not holding my breath though, I predict we'll get 5 points.

The only one comparable to Benitez here is Allardyce. As I said to you above, the other two were given a free first year and then rightly chased out when it became clear they had lost the squad in the second season.

Benitez, like Allardyce before him, was an unpopular figure largely despised by our fanbase for years and is a football dinosaur who hasn't been relevant to the game for 5 years. Like the Allardyce move before it, it was another appointment from the regime that shows a lack of ambition and further indication that we don't know what we're doing. It was another appointment that contributed to our position as a laughing stock in the league. First Allardyce the gravy-swilling constant relegation battling hoofball merchant and then a man who actually called us a "Small Club" on national telly and appears to favour the same type of crap defensive footy.

That's why the other two got time and these two didn't/aren't.

We do this all the time though - say a bottom half team is an easy win and we get beat (Fulham, Sheff Utd, Newcastle last season, Watford, Villa this one) then bed wet that a Spurs, Leicester etc will put 7 past us and we go and win one.

Football isnt won on paper if it was the bookies would be out of business - get DCL, Doucoure and Mina back in the team and we'll be where we always are come the seasons end - 8th-12th.

An upper midtable irrelevant boring club.
8th - 12th wouldn't be upper mid-table, it would be the very middle of the table. 6th or 7th is upper mid table.

To he honest, I don't think you'll have anyone in here disagreeing with you on that no manager gets a tune out of this squad straight away, and no manager is a miracle worker.

The problem is, benitez isn't liked by the vast majority of this fanbase so he doesn't get the patience needed to overhaul this squad, he just doesn't get any slack because of his previous connections.

He needed to hit the ground running instantly to have any chance of swaying most people, he hasn't done that and infact he's fell into the exact same trap the previous managers have done in trusting the exact same squad members to get a tune out of ( which ultimately got them all sacked (

I don't think anyone comes in and makes this squad a top team, but someone else gets fans onboard. Bentiez doesn't have that luxury so it was a ridiculous appointment.

Also I really really hate his fat Face
