We conceeded loads of goals under Koeman, Silva, Ancelotti whenever he never played 10 behind the ball.

The defenders and midfielders (Doucoure and Allan aside) are largely poor.

Read Michael Balls column in the Red Echo today - Michael Keane switched off on set pieces, not reacting at all when we conceede - he goes on to say Big Nev used to go ape when he let a goal in and was fuming at his team mates/himself.

We have a bad bunch of players both ability wise and mentality wise. Thats not to excuse the manager totally however thats the main issue we have - the recruitment.

But the solution in some peoples minds is just sack the manager 10 games in - im sure they'll dust themselves off and show some pride under the 6th manager in 7 years...
I think that part is very much forgotten. We know the likes of Silva, Martinez were poor managers and should not have been hired. We know koeman was sold down the river, either completely or partly after that summer. We know allardyce was never a long term answer but should have never been a solution to begin with.

We keep hiring and sacking managers though , there has to be a constant. The likes of Chelsea sack their managers because they drop out of a title race , and still win trophies. We sack our managers nowhere near a level of success.

So there is a constant at the club. We can keep blaming managers but the same players who are here are also the reason why the team is failing. When our first choice centre half has cost us two goals already this season, we have probably gifted 4-5 goals alone in defence so far. This is the players because it happens every year.

The problem we have is top to bottom. The players are just as much at fault as the board are now. We can clearly see it with the current state of the team. When the difference between a top 6 and a bottom 6 side is literally 3-4 players then that's a major issue with the money spent. Hiring ex players as coaches and not developing more than 1 player since moshiri took over is an issue. The other lot have 3? From their academy all at the same time, to fill gaps. We have 1 , Gordon. The academy doesn't have to develop Rooney's on a yearly basis, just players who can fill gaps , we fail at that.

Until the club has a seamless plan in place , nothing is going to change. You can't blame benitez after 5 years of failures. We can't build anything by constantly expecting a new manager to bring success with players we literally can't get rid of. We failed with relegation allardyce and we failed with world class ancelotti.

The difficulty the manager has is that he isn’t judged fairly he just isn’t , because of who he is , the history , the disconnect and because of then unpopularity of the decision . That just isn’t fair and it isn’t his fault but I certainly feel like it’s true .

All that said he’s also made some bloody awful decisions.
Absolutely, but being fair Ancelotti and Allardyce were judged on reputation / who they were. In hindsight I probably gave Ancelotti too much leeway last season at times. On the other hand, well, we can all see the squad issues.

Football is an emotional game. Fans are madly irrational (myself included - why the hell do I still Everton ffs????). The disconnect between 'should' and 'what does' happen will always be there.

Right, I've rambled enough. Better do some work ;)

That’s why he should never have been appointed, because he was never going to be judged the same as any other manager.

Totally agree and I wrote what I did as someone vehemently opposed to his appointment and who can’t even bring myself to write his name !

Why are these fans misguided and not you though? Why are you the one to make that decision that they are misguided? You don't know them, their understanding, what research they have done to come to that decision. Taking that stance that you are right and they are wrong shows the same stubbornness as benitez and lack of empathy and udnerstanding. I stayed away to give him time to show what he could maybe do. Other than 2 games we have controlled, we haven't shown much and 1 win in 7 is relegation form, if it becomes 1 win in 8, that is Silva form who you were screaming to get sacked for that.

You keep saying its a vocal minority, but that's pure speculation on your part. I'd argue its more 50:50, but moving towards being a majority against. Especially now there are fans booing in the ground as he was booed by the travelling fans on Monday.

I may well be wrong mate and you right and if thats the case I'll happily hold my hands up and say he wasn't the right man.

However my point has been since pre season that we won't know either way until he's been at the club 2 seasons and been given funds to bring in his players.

10 games and £1.7m to spend with big injuries to key players isn't concrete evidence either way it just isn't. He's got just over 18 months left on his deal - if the club has any sense they let him see it out and get the finances in order.

Kendall managed in Greece in the top flight , a country that won the euros within the decade . Is it of an equivalent to the premier league ? Absolutely not , was Kendall coming to the end of his Career ? Yes he was retired within 5/6 years . However it still in Europe and it’s certainly not China however I’ll apply the same rules , Kendall was coming to the end of his career and so is this fella .

The difference is Howard loved us , was our greatest ever manager and was worshipped by at least some of the fanbase , certainly me , whereas much if not all of us will never ever sing this blokes name .
Yes fair enough you make good points however you are judging Benitez when his best players have not been available to him to judge his progress fairly. You only have to see what happend across the park when Van Djike was missing to see the impact on a team when only one key player is missing, even worse when the squad inherited is weak and not good enough in the first place.

He’s definitely had a tough run on injuries DCL is a huge loss in both boxes and we basically can’t play the system his likes without Doucoure , although he still seems to want to Try .

I think if DCL plays we might have nicked something the other night but in a way that’s part of the problem , we haven’t played that well in games we have won but finishing chances meant , some , people got excited and were talking him up like a genius . Don’t finish a couple of those chances it’s an easy transition to 1 win in 7.

It's funny, you wanted Carlo sacked when he faltered despite injury crisis etc etc and you didn't want to give him 2 seasons.

But, the minute benitez gets hired, you reach your nirvana and demand he gets his 2 seasons.

Benitez out. HOWE IN. Make it happen Mosh.
Looks like Newcastle are getting Howe now, just shows Newcastle can have as much more as they like they cant right now attract a top name, and some of our fans think we can do better then Rafael with less money.
Howe would be our only reslistic option but Newcastle are probably stepping in ahead of us
