Right Winger: Antony

All 'problem' positions for us.

If we can pay Ancelotti £11-12mil a year then surely we could attract Erik Ten Hag.

5 year contract, full autonomy to rebuild the entire structure of the 1st team and youth teams.

We have a Dutch DOF whose never signed a Dutch player or recruited a Dutch member of staff for us. Its totally bizarre.

Can we not see some exciting football and joined up thinking ?

Benitez was and is a divisive appointment but there needs to come a point where we sack a manager and somebody above him resigns at the same time.

For years we have had manager after manager who have got it completely wrong. We haven’t had a manager since Moyes that has gone on to do anything of note after leaving Everton and it took Moyes an age to find a job that fitted his particular skills.

Someone inside the club with seniority needs to either give Benitez two years (minimum) and complete authority to get rid of anyone he chooses or they need to get rid of Benitez now and find someone they will place that level of trust in.

I am sick of us being back in the same situation every 18 months and even if it is Benitez, I want some stability. What we have done in the past has clearly not worked and Benitez has inherited that disaster of a squad.

Agreed. Changing of managers so often actually did us no good. I think the fans (us), owners and the board have to realise that.
It is so easy to jump on the blame-Benitez wagon but he was only here for 5 months, to correct problems and issues we have as a club for 5 years or more.

We have lost 3-4 of our best players to injuries. If you take away the best 3-4 players of any team for few games, do you think they would not dip in form?
Try to take the 3-4 best players out from West Ham, Wolves and Watford - they will struggle too. They'll probably also lose 3 straight games too.

Let’s not pretend Benitez has caused toxicity among fans.

We’ve been toxic since Martinez.
Fair enough . I wasn’t at wolves but I’m told by a couple of people there was at least one scuffle amongst blues leading to an ejection , as many of us predicted, the cause as I understand it the manager . Now I won’t argue that things haven’t been great for a while but they are definitely not getting better , we needed a unifying appointment one people could hopefully get behind but instead we got the opposite.

Unless he gets some wins on the board , please god he does , it’s only going to get worse .

If you're a grown adult getting into a physical fight about the club's manager then you're a bit stupid.

There are lots of stupid things around football and more specifically Everton . Im not advocating people kicking off as something we should aspire to im just saying it was almost inevitable once this appointment was made . The only question was how long it would take .

Yeah I didn't mean to suggest you were advocating it. I don't think decisions made at the top of the club should have to take the behaviour of some idiots into account.

Benitez is not the worst manager out there, the problem we have is that he was, probably, the worst manager out there FOR US. Personally, I think that he is always going to be fighting fires here because there is a sizable section of the fans who will never accept him. Whether that is the right or wrong reaction to his appointment is immaterial, it is a huge obstacle to him ever being a success here.

For me, although I didn’t want him here, I have tried to give him the benefit of the doubt. He has made it very difficult for me to believe he will ever be worth the unrest and division he is causing. His tactics are outdated, his stubbornness and arrogance seem to know no bounds and, it seems that already he has the players arguing amongst themselves on the pitch regarding the implementation of his tactics.

It seems bizarre that he has managed to take our defending, especially of set pieces, which was our strong suit and make it shambolic, with his insistence that his system is better, he has persisted with the woeful Rondon, game after game, when it has been more and more obvious that the player is just not good enough at the moment and his continual dropping of Anthony Gordon, one of the only plus points of this season, for the lackluster Iwobi is unfathomable. It would also appear that he is the only man in football who hasn’t realized that without Doucoure we simply cannot play with a 2 man midfield, I know this doesn’t fit in with Benitez’ preferred system, but, you have to be flexible, if the personnel are not available to play a certain system, change it until they are, our manager seems to think that it will work if he just keeps doing what isn’t working.

Overall, there were some good results early on in his tenure, there was even a couple of very impressive performances, away at Brighton and Utd. It hasn’t been terrible up to now, but, it certainly seems to be headed that way and, because it is Benitez, it is going to be very difficult for him to ever win the crowd around if this goes on for much longer. It was for this reason that I was dead set against Benitez in the first place, he is showing me nothing, at the moment to make me suppose I was wrong.

This is absolutely spot on.

10 games into season 1.

Fast forward 12 months and the same idiots will either be numb to who the manager is or will have been banned from attending games for persistent trouble causing.
