Great postAnd yet I'm sure most of us would have klopp, would we not?
I'm behind benitez for a few reasons,
1) I think given time he could make us a consistent europa league/ conference team.
2) we cant just keep sacking managers it will catch up with us eventually. We need to give someone time.
3) we need a consistent manager in charge to get rid of the dross in the squad and replace it. Absolute crap that has gotten away with murder year in and year out. Keane, holgate, Davies, gomes, tosun, delph, iwobi, Coleman and Kenny. They need cutting out of the squad and replacing with better players with actual work ethic in them. Defenders who it actually hurts them when they conceded, midfielders with pace and aggression and forwards who aren't rooted to the ground. The deadwood needs cutting out and replacing. The only problem is the deadwood keeps on getting the manager the sack before they can clear it out.
We're going backwards and these set of players are the reason and they have been for years we need to stick with a manager for a few years let them develop a team and see what their vision of the club is.
I will mate but I know he's a busy man doing stuffThat is a stonker of an idea. You should write to Marcel Brands and put it to him.
I think the opposite. The fact that different managers, with different philosophies, have had such a big impact on the type of players we have bought, is part of the reason for our current problems.I was completely against him because he is so divisive and could really only have a negative impact on the club,
he would always be 3 defeats away from being turned on by sections of the crowd and when you look at the absolute state of the squad this was always going to be the situation we are in now, compound that with the injuries we have had, that would have a massive impact on any manager,
The question is how to remedy it bearing in mind the financial mess we’re in due to previous manager/dof mistakes,
I cant see what It would achieve to replace him, whoever would be mental enough to take the job under the current climate, would be in the same boat as this fella,
The major problem lies with the recruitment and who recruits them, I am of the opinion that the manager should recruit the first team players and live and die by those decisions.
I really think that the DOF shouldn’t be involved with the first team and focus on bringing younger players to the club that will with time break through to the first team.
In short we’ve made our bed and now have to lie in it with this manager, The next there months could be the most important in the clubs recent history, cross everything possible.
Great post
Agree with all that. I’d also add if Rafael is Moshiri and usmanov’s man, then he will hopefully have a big voice. And if Rafael has problems with certain people at the club. IE players, Unsworth, board members interfering. Then maybe something will be done about it.
We need some consistency for once. And not this 18month revolving door. I’d keep Rafael till the grounds built
All managers are going to have different philosophies, the main problem being if the owner decides to change them like he does shirts then you’ve also got no chance, the players that have been recruited over recent times have been dreadful and would be hard to argue that they’d suit any system, football really isn’t that complicated,I think the opposite. The fact that different managers, with different philosophies, have had such a big impact on the type of players we have bought, is part of the reason for our current problems.
The whole problem with this project is that we have not been concrete enough in terms of the club's philosophy, and whatever plan we have had, we have in practice been very ambivalent about it.
Which has resulted in many solutions that are not optimal and not well thought out. When this is repeated year after year, the errors will accumulate, and it will quickly become difficult to solve these challenges, and we will lag behind both on the field and off.

I think some of the fans will turn. I also think a number of fans, will realise we need to just ride through it. With this [Poor language removed] squad And accept we are unlikely to attract a world class manager.….it’s not so much others interfering in his work, Benitez will ultimately interfere and fall out with others.
its fine if things are going well but just as in any walk of life, it can lead to an unhappy working environment. I’m sure he’s been appointed for the duration, but his position is particularly vulnerable if the crowd turn on him & we are in the bottom third of the table.
I think some of the fans will turn
Think that ship has sailed pal.
100% need a manager to stay and build consistency. My only reservation is committing to it unreservedly, regardless of the evidence on the pitch. While stability is really needed, sticking with the wrong manager for the sake of consistency can be equally damaging to the chopping and changing.Great post

And this all falls on the Dof. He should be shaping the squad and appointing managers that suit his vision. Instead he is stealing a wage being another yes man. There is no clear strategy.I think the opposite. Yes but Benitez has proved he’s a class manager. No disrespect but what had levein done before or since100% need a manager to stay and build consistency. I’ve got a season ticket at Hearts, they appointed Craig Levein and said we have a five year plan - off the back of previous chopping and changing. After his second season I wanted him gone - didn’t look like he had a clue what he was doing. Majority of fans were like “it’s a five year plan, support the team...” he got his five years and we were relegated at the end of it.
I've turned that much Jimi it's like a bloody scene from the Exorcist in our house.
