Could you explain how he is a better fit? Our best managers; Catterick, Royle and Kendall were all attacking, ex Everton players, he is neither. His best football is usually defensive and pragmatic, our best football in the past has been high intensity attacking football.
He is a better fit because Carlo would walk into clubs in the top 2 that little work was needed for, not midtable sides who are really unbalanced with poor players, he cant work with them, an never has, he always had one eye on another job

Actually hate this thread. Page after page of the same people making stuff up, drawing false equivalences "what about Carlo tho lad??" to deflect criticisms, and being generally unbearable clowns (and loving it when people give them attention) just like those across the park.
Agreed

Problem with Dyche is its going after another clubs manager, we had that with Silva and its not as straight forward as we think, and would costs us more then we can actually afford. Howe i dont know about, but either way he wont be leaving Newcastle's money for our lack of it
Fair ponts and while my very limited football knowledge tells me that Rafael isn't the answer to our very depressing predicament I do concede my suggestions aren't without risks either .
With Benitez rather dour type of football and his obvious history I just can't see this punt ending well . If he does keep us competitive in the difficult running coming up I'll be surprised. Begrudgingly pleased but surprised .

For me the problem is our ambitions and those of Moshiri are a world apart, I see him looking at sucess as in the books look healthy and the money is flowing. I know he has spent millions on the players but its without a plan for the actual football side of the buisness, and now he has had to put a stop to it, meaning no more wild budget and very few managers are going to touch that, so we have Rafael for three years
Im not even sure what we are trying to do now, apart from build a stadium and EITC, the 90s minutes of football is of little interest to Moshiri so Rafael is safe

You don't. That's the exact scenario you stated earlier would earn Benitez a third season in charge. You can't pillory other people for the exact thing that you are accepting of.
But the differance is Benitez has to follow the mess Carlo left, with no money to spend, how much did Carlo have? in fact even Sivla and Sam had more. Rafael has this season to steady the ship Carlo took backwards then build towards his third season

All this false equivalency nonsense that you spout could be applied to any manager here. Substitute the word Carlo for Silva and the word Benitez for Carlo (e.g. Carlo has this season to steady the ship Silva took backwards etc..) and you can make exactly the same arguments for/against any manager in any post. Managers rarely leave Everton because they are doing really well.

Moyes did

NSNO the final nail for that was last season, making giant stupid banners and songs for Carlo while the football was terrible, accepting mediocrity right there
Nah.....NSNO went years ago aided and abetted by expectations being lowered by Kenwright and the board, now compounded by Moshiri in his appalling appointments of managers despite his continued input to the new stadium.
Feel sorry for the supporters who have not seen us win anything for approaching 30 years.
Feels like they are in for another long wait. The manager on his own won't fix it until those at the top of the club come to their senses

Wasn't his win percentage the 3rd best in the clubs managerial History?
You can argue a few things. But i wouldnt class that as "total failure"

Well his win percentage is obviously gonna be higher by default seeing as he only managed us for 18 months, you’re essentially using the “Sam Allardyce is England’s greatest ever manager with a 100% win record” argument except you’re being serious rather than memeing. Are you arguing that Ancelotti, finishing 10th and 12th, was a better Everton manager than David Moyes because his win percentage was higher?

Should or will? he will get three for certain, its important for our future, cant be having another manager change, its getting a joke now
What future we currently have is to continue as a perpetual mid table club until at some point in the future a bad run of form takes us down ,which ultimately is the fate of all clubs who aim solely for survival.
But the die is cast now at any rate.
Just wish we could have some genuinely entertaining football for the journey.
I would rather we went out like a lion rather than sliding out of view like a kopite when faced by One Armed Babs.
