That not the point and you know it.

Glad you are happy not watching us win.

As you know Marius, I'm hardly Benitez's biggest fan, but I do think he needs more time before any real talk of sacking him starts happening

Selecting Gordon more has played a part in that though I will concede

I think once we have the full strength starting XI back we'll do okay. Not great, but okay, and then hopefully we can do some decent business in the summer once we've got some more players off the wage bill

I know that's not an exciting prospect, but it is what it is at this current juncture

I do think he needs more time and we should perhaps be a bit more patient with him

I do accept though that he didn't help his own cause by not walking back the small club comments when he had the chance. That would have bought him more wiggle room I think, but he decided to be stubborn about it

But benitez isn't a long term appointment. He rarely stays anywhere for longer than 2 or 3 years at a push. A couple of times, but rarely. It's shortsighted. He implements his vision, gets us to midtable competing for europa league places, then we start all over again. He isn't a long term appointment, and even his biggest fans say he is here to steady the ship.

He is here to steady the ship while we are hamstrung by FFP and have a threadbare squad lacking cover and competition in key positions.

Insert Hot-young-prospect-here-the-long-term-project-manger and they'll struggle and likely wilt under the pressure of managing a team like Everton.

When we're back in a healthy position financially and have a solid unit of players for a younger manager to come in and take us on, it just is what it is.

Not exactly steadying the ship though nor will he imo

Yeah I think that (unless he wins something) Benitez probably isn't getting signed to a new deal once this particular run is over

He's here to kick us into shape so the next guy can pick up the baton

I actually think he's fine with that too, as getting Everton back on track will strengthen his reputation again (Not unlike how Moyes has rescued his career at West Ham)

If Rafael steadies the ship, gets rid of the deadwood, we move in to our new stadium, he implements his own vision and were fighting for European places. There is zero chance he is making way for a younger manager.

Well in his defence he's only just got here

With the Starting XI we've looked okay for the most part. Not especially good, but comfortably mid-table

Not exciting and not where we want the club to be, but FFP has hampered who we can sign and we still have a bunch of players on the books that we want rid of

This is going to be a slow, miserable slog for a season or two, but so long as he keeps us water tight then we'll hopefully be in a better shape for whoever is due to take over the reins when it's time for him to go

This is not an exciting time to be an Evertonian, but hopefully there are sunnier days ahead

He has a 2 +1 year deal. He will be here for a minimum of 3 years unless something catastrophic goes wrong.

Disagree think we looked shocking even with our ‘strong 11’ available, we were just fortunate our opponents didn’t put us to the sword and we took advantage when we had our good 10 minute spell in games, we’re crap at the back and offer nothing going forward, its going to be a long dour season and I’d be amazed if he’s here past the summer

It's not my job to have a plan, I'm a supporter of the club. But myself and several others posted what would happen prior to him being hired. It was the wrong appointment. There's literally thousands of managers out there. Not going to rehash all the same arguments from the summer.
And all would have had the same (if not far worse) issues with this squad, spend and injuries.

"The peoples club" was an embarrassing small time quote by a manager that kept us a small club.

The "peoples club" did nothing of note nor has the "Iranian/Russian play thing."

The club needs gutting top to bottom. Board, manager, paying staff. Even the dinner ladies need canning.

Absolute rotten throughout. Burn it all down and start again.
This is the first time I’ve seen this lot mentioned as a possible cause of our decline. It must be them, so get rid.

Terrible reply and it’s really boring……
Give the man a chance with a full squad and at least a little bit of money, unless you want the merryground to continue.
There are thousands and thousands of managers out there, 99% of them [Poor language removed]
Al least give someone who knows how to win, a little go……..instead of a ‘punt’
