The early signs are good. Benitez inherited a difficult situation and got us playing with intensity and looking a lot fitter.

But most impressive thing for me. I can actually see what they're working on in training.

Never had a clue what they were supposed to be doing under Ancelotti.

Benitez is desperate to do well at Everton. He wants to do the job he loves (coaching in the Premier League) while living where he and his family love (Merseyside) for as long as possible. The Geordies loved him for staying when relegated, getting back into PL as winners of the Championship, and most importantly coaching a team that tried their best despite some obvious limitations and little financial support. Based on this season’s start, the signs are encouraging for the Toffees but there is a long long way to go. Glad that we have a manager who is as desperate for improvement/success as us fans. COYB!!!!

Calm down your horse ... Carlo won what ? The first 5 games (or 4 ) vs tougher teams and playing very good front foot offensive football , then it all went downhill..

This is not how do You start , it's about where do You end , good Game and win , but i still keep it chill .

…..interesting post-match interview with Gray in which he repetitively mentions ‘structure’.

i thought it most interesting he said they train with ‘structure’. I presume that means shape and more specifically what we do when we have the ball and what we do when the opposition have the ball.

Structure.

Worlds apart from Ancelotti and “just play”

When we appointed Benitez I wasn’t bothered that he had managed ‘them,’ my main concern was that I thought that Benitez was a busted flush who had had his day.
Two things seem quite apparent already though:
The team is the fittest it has been since Moyes was in charge. Amazing that we have been through so many managers who haven’t been able to get a team fit enough to run for 90 mins.
Benitez is a coach aswell as a manager. He has a plan on how he wants us to play and is prepared to make tactical changes during games and tweak things rather than making substitutions and hoping things change.
Its early days but I have been impressed that we seem to have an identity and a way of playing that suits the players we have available.
