The mad thing is that with half the injuries we have now, going into December last season Ancelotti had 1 win in 7. He pulled out three miracle results against Chelsea, Leicester and Arsenal and we were suddenly looking at possibly pushing European places with a few signings in January, that we didn't make because Brands gonna Brands. Ancelotti then had 1 win in 8 in a period in the second half of the season.

But yeah, it comes back to this all not being unique to Benitez. The players he has have by and large proven to be useless for years now, they down tools, they're inconsistent, there's been no plan in the transfer market for years. But because it's Benitez, all that is ignored and he's failing to a unique degree apparently.

Great post. Agree totally.

I'm not happy with everything Benitez is doing but the levels of fume over every little thing, when other managers have been let off lightly is crazy. I think that's why some posters defend Benitez. Not because they're RS or massive fans of him they just don't like the unfair persecution.

Thats bollox mate - Silva was given 18 months despite being utter crap and spending £200 million over two windows

Ancelotti was given over 18 months and would have been here another full season at the minimum despite spending £70 million and finishing 10th & 12th.

Oh look that ex kopite manager has had 11 games and £1.7 million to spend - SACK HIM NOWWWWWW!!!

Why are you holding Benitez to lower standards than you held all our previous managers? That's the simple question that no one will answer.

Why should he be viewed differently? Why are his objectives so much lower?

He came in to the club without the credentials to suggest he was the right choice so he needs results to earn time. Sticking with someone who lacks credentials, and starts off poorly in their role, is completely non-sensical.

See Spurs, see Villa etc for reference. They made mistakes (Villa's in the market) and then acted accordingly. What are we waiting for.

**waves**

If people were fair with the fella I couldn't be bothered defending his corner but I cant sit back and watch basically the online equivalent of a flogging in the city centre.

The issue is this fella is getting more excuses made for his results than any other manager in recent memory.
His performance as manager shouldn't only be judged on having a fully fit squad, a good manager gets results one way or another depending on who he has available, at the minute he's failing that so the criticism is justified.
Thing is though its not just the injuries and the results, you have to look beyond them and accept we cant afford to sack him, and then look at the alternatives, who to replace him with, thats the main issue. His job is rock solid safe. I can see and agree that he is getting more excuses made but they are all real, but people are ignoring them because he once managed Liverpool.
There really isnt a better alternative manager at this present time, if there was we would of got him in the summer, we didnt for a reason, yeah of course we could take a punt on someone but we cant afford to pay off Rafael and pay off another clubs managers contract, Moshiri is killing us and Rafael is the outcome.

The wheels fell off and ultimately he lost complete interest, btw he was heavily criticized last season for some of results especially at home.
Many on here have slated Ancelotti for the results against Newcastle Fulham Sheff Utd and even wanted him gone.

Btw any evidence that giving Benitez time and money he will bring success?

He's got a far better CV and is more experienced than any manager I've seen suggested to replace him.

Any new manager will have to work with the rubbish we have with next to no money to spend.

That's far riskier to me than being patient.

Spurs can spend £400 million if they wanted thanks to FFP and can attract a top manager like Conte.

Villa have appointed Steven Gerrard - hardly a top manager and for me Dean Smith is the better out the two.

We are skint due to FFP and are mid season - there is no one better out there to take the job on so its called having patience and being rational.

I do agree on your points but minor correction. 12 pl games. I dislike fake news. Lol

Silva was not total crap to start with - he finished 8th in his first season which was acceptable.

Had he done what the waiter had he would have been out the door within 6 months of starting.

We're only 2 points off 8th, during an injury crisis, so maybe you should just learn to wait before you throw your toys out of your pram?

Silva had some good players and barely any injuries:

DCL
Richarlison
Gana
Zouma
Mina
Digne

The bulk of those stayed fit most of the season.

Then we lost Gana and Zouma and we fell to pieces - funny like losing DCL, Doucoure & Mina you say?

It's not throwing toys out of the pram to want a change of manager. It's a fear of how bad things are going to get over the next few weeks under this manager. It's going to be an utter humiliation. Take all the emotion out of it, and the results are still simply not good enough.

There was no need to put the fans through this experiment which is certain to fail

It’s mainly about saving Moshiri the embarrassment at this point.
