Great post. Agree totally.
I'm not happy with everything Benitez is doing but the levels of fume over every little thing, when other managers have been let off lightly is crazy. I think that's why some posters defend Benitez. Not because they're RS or massive fans of him they just don't like the unfair persecution.
It's not throwing toys out of the pram to want a change of manager. It's a fear of how bad things are going to get over the next few weeks under this manager. It's going to be an utter humiliation. Take all the emotion out of it, and the results are still simply not good enough.
There was no need to put the fans through this experiment which is certain to fail
The excuses for Benitez are becoming so bewildering its actually making him look like even more of a lame duck.
Agreed. My thinking is he needs 2 summers to get his team together with 16 players out of contract by then and only 3 worth keeping.
We’ve waited half a season and are heading backwards at an alarming rate
Maybe, maybe not. I think people should give him a fair go. What if he's good enough to do well and you lot push him out? That ever crossed any of your minds?
You not see the double standards though?
@Kev The Rat was happy for Silva to finish 8th first season (with money to spend) yet is calling for Rafael's head while 2 points off 8th, loads of injuries, (next to no money to spend).
It's crazy.
Might be too late by then, even if he can motivate the team, which is far from certain.Just ignore money, injuries and lack of time.
Things will improve when our key players come back, you know that too.
Seriously Dave, we could be bottom 6 in a week, bottom 3 by Xmas - injuries or otherwise, you would expect no action to be taken under those circumstances? It must be terrible for all the ones who've wanted Benitez out from the off. The club means more to them than the rest of us.
I'm not even a Benitez fan. I just recognised the club is a basket case and he was the best of a terrible bunch of options in the summer.
More importantly, I simply recognise the club needs stability and a manager in place for 2-3 years to actually have a semblance of direction. Barring being seriously threatened with relegation, Benitez should get that.
If Marcel Brands was an actual DoF then the managerial merry go round we've been embarking on for years now wouldn't matter as such, but he hasn't done his job, so every time we switch managers we bring in different players suiting different systems and the net result is a patchwork quilt of a squad littered with panic buys and confusion.
It needs to stop. People need to put the knives away and just let this ride. Because the alternative is sacking another manager with a large payout for next to no reason, hiring another one and being in the same situation 12 months later, over and over again until we do go down.
Might be too late by then, even if he can motivate the team, which is far from certain.
A lot of people want Benitez sacked for winning 1 in 9 and want Potter to replace him who has won 1 in 10.You're only using the 1 win in 9 when it suits you.
Trying to imply we should win the derby when we've won 1 in the last 24.
How is that showing fairness and a balanced viewpoint?
I have no issue stating the 1 win in 9, if it's put in to context, which none of you are doing.
Ignoring the lack of money, the injuries, lack of quality in the squad and time he's had.
Maybe, maybe not. I think people should give him a fair go. What if he's good enough to do well and you lot push him out? That ever crossed any of your minds?
