It’s early days still, but you have to give him credit for the way he’s already getting a tune out of certain players. Allan and Doucoure already look better than they did last year, Iwobi looks far fitter, and playing with confidence. The squad in general look markedly improved in terms of fitness to what we saw last year.

Not on Benitez in particular but the team, although people will be disappointed that no big money marquee signing was made, we look a good outfit that will trouble most teams in this league. Gray has been an inspired signing for peanuts, and him, Richarlison, DCL and Iwobi/Rodriguez/Townsend is a potent front 4. Allan and Doucoure are shoe ins for central midfield, we have one of the best left backs in the league, a quality keeper and more than competent centre half option. Factor in a manager that actually looks like he can be @rsed and has got them well drilled and we could be in for a decent season.

The problem is underneath that first team we lack quality options and lack squad depth so if injuries start to hit, things could unravel pretty quickly.

Let’s hope we steer clear of injuries, if we do, I can see us challenging for Europe.

If we challenge seriously for Europe he will have done a Sterling job. No doubt about that. There’s a decent chance of we steer clear of injuries but it will be difficult if we lose a couple of key players.

Of course he's getting a tune out of certain players. If you can get a tune out of Neil Mellor, Djimi Traoré, Jerzy Dudek and Djibril Cissé, you can get a tune out of anybody.

Didn’t even want benitez but seems like he’s been badly set up for failure. If the team fails this season they’ll point the blame on him and due to the liverpool connection he’ll take most the abuse whilst the gimps brands, moshiri and kenwright will sit in the back and take very little.
