Don't disagree with much of what any of them said
* Benitez will probably do better than Ancelotti did
* Liverpool fans aren't all that bothered about him being here because it has come about at a time when they are flying under Klopp. Had it happened in the Rodgers/Dalglish/Hodgson era, the reaction may have been quite different.
* Benitez and the way he likes his teams to play is probably more suited to our heritage and, culturally, the way our match-going fans like the game to be played
* If we are losing the home derby, the Liverpool fans singing the Benitez song will be a knife in the ribs and having that hanging over us is one of the reasons it'll be difficult for him
We are fortunate that he's got off to a good start. It's the first hurdle. Always felt that if he got off to a bad start, it would be a mountain to ever get the fans onside. As it happens, after the first game he's gone away three games on the spin, got good results and then there's a long break until the next game and during that time we've been able to see that from the point of view of recruitment he's been let down by the club. That all works in his favour as by next Monday night, we've all had time to reflect on a good start and we will probably feel he deserves more backing from the fans because he hasn't had it from the recruitment side.
I didn't want the guy for two main reasons - firstly I can't stand him (and that's my problem that I'm just having to work through, but it's got surprisingly easier as time has gone on). Secondly, I always felt that while he may tick a lot of boxes from the point of view of what he brings, he was always up against it to succeed here because he would get less patience than anyone who's ever had the job before. I still stand by the 2nd point, but circumstances have so far panned out in his favour here, and it's difficult to deny that he seems to know what he's doing up to now.
