Benny deserves it solely for the pressure he was under from fixture 1 by a section of the fanbase.

Nuno has done well but come on he's scraped 3x 1-0 wins playing awful football and got beat in the Europa Conference by some farmers.

At least Benitez is still technically unbeaten and all on a shoestring budget.
Spurs were hemmed in their own box for the whole Wolves game and only beat Watford from a freekick into the box which the gk made a massive error. They have been pretty crap tbh.

Interesting first 10 mins or so here…

I’m out in Ukraine so Im A bit out of the loop, but from this forum I reckon most fans have decided to back the manager. I’m sure some decent early performances and results have helped!
Is carragher right- a derby loss and theyll turn against him, or are we actually taking him to our hearts?

I think we're used to a Derby loss so the idea that would be the catalyst for the fans to turn on him doesn't wash with me.

Fans turned on Carlo even though he's the first manager to win at the pit since Moses was a lad...so the spitter is talking poop.

it's always a bit dispiriting listening to that foghorn talking about Everton, he always has such a basic take on things. 'if he's losing three nil in the derby..'. Well, thanks for that insight Jamie. I actually think the derby might be the thing that finally gets most fans to back him. Cos I think he'll work Klopp up a treat.

Agree with Neville (who would have thunk!) Still feels wrong! More than happy to be proved wrong though.

Small steps.
He's doing fine just now.

Rafael is going to bring about the reckoning.

Don't disagree with much of what any of them said

* Benitez will probably do better than Ancelotti did

* Liverpool fans aren't all that bothered about him being here because it has come about at a time when they are flying under Klopp. Had it happened in the Rodgers/Dalglish/Hodgson era, the reaction may have been quite different.

* Benitez and the way he likes his teams to play is probably more suited to our heritage and, culturally, the way our match-going fans like the game to be played

* If we are losing the home derby, the Liverpool fans singing the Benitez song will be a knife in the ribs and having that hanging over us is one of the reasons it'll be difficult for him

We are fortunate that he's got off to a good start. It's the first hurdle. Always felt that if he got off to a bad start, it would be a mountain to ever get the fans onside. As it happens, after the first game he's gone away three games on the spin, got good results and then there's a long break until the next game and during that time we've been able to see that from the point of view of recruitment he's been let down by the club. That all works in his favour as by next Monday night, we've all had time to reflect on a good start and we will probably feel he deserves more backing from the fans because he hasn't had it from the recruitment side.

I didn't want the guy for two main reasons - firstly I can't stand him (and that's my problem that I'm just having to work through, but it's got surprisingly easier as time has gone on). Secondly, I always felt that while he may tick a lot of boxes from the point of view of what he brings, he was always up against it to succeed here because he would get less patience than anyone who's ever had the job before. I still stand by the 2nd point, but circumstances have so far panned out in his favour here, and it's difficult to deny that he seems to know what he's doing up to now.

I just want to see us compete,. Not spinelessly hide and roll over as soon as a tricky game appears.

I want us to win something again and if Rafael is the coach to do it then I've no problems with that at all.
I think that an almost automatic consequence of playing with pace is an increase in determination and passion.

It is instantly more exciting for the fans.
