He's done alright thus far and long may it continue

It's very early days though and I've learnt from past managers that it's best not to go balls deep into hero worship of the new gaffer before they've actually had a chance to really show us what they are capable of

That happened with Martinez and it led to the forum becoming a pretty horrid place for a while due to near cult like status afforded to the manager by certain sections

So yeah, I'm happy at the moment and I don't really have an issue with the style of play. It's a results business and he's getting them
Yep, one game at a time and lets see how we go when we lose a couple...and the manner of how we lose them.
If we bust a gut and City do us 3-0 Well fair enough, but if we roll over for Norwich...
After the initial fume, questions will need to be asked and answered...properly, not just another ra-ra go team from Coleman.

Interesting first 10 mins or so here…

I’m out in Ukraine so Im A bit out of the loop, but from this forum I reckon most fans have decided to back the manager. I’m sure some decent early performances and results have helped!
Is carragher right- a derby loss and theyll turn against him, or are we actually taking him to our hearts?

As I said before, it won't be the loss, though any loss to the rs is bad, it will be the Manner of the loss - did we roll over or did we go down fighting.

Nothing would make him happier then beating them at the tin mine.

Im not judging him on the Derby tbh mate we could have Guardiola as manager and our record would still be poor in it.

What I would give for a Sunderland type 6 in a row derby win streak against them - the away win last season was good but did feel tainted without fans there / being able to celebrate it with mates in town.

A follow up win this season even at Goodison would be boss especially as it would give them a bloody nose after going so long without any real derby humiliation.

I think Benitez coming here says more about his connection to them and what he actually thinks of them, than it does what he thinks about us.

I actually don't think he gives a flying one about them, or he would never have entertained coming here.

It's like Big Joe or H going the other way - it just wouldn't happen, and imagine how bad we would feel about it? That's why kopites are going through now, especially after his decent start.

That esteemed panel have called the kopites feelings of "norrarsed mate" proper wrong as well - it's really bothered them that Benitez is here, and they are really hurt about it, no matter what they say.

Imagine being a club drowned by unprofessional, favour courting, PR happy, highly paid employees ...........

Then the second a manager signs who literally wears blinkers to everything else other than what involves him putting out his best 11 to beat an opposition side - fans are up in arms.

It's an absolutely brilliant appointment. ..... He's not bothered about being popular or liked...... He really doesn't care.

He's signed 3 players who have undoubtedly been a huge boost to the dressing room.

Imagine what they'll be like if Benitez wins us a trophy? He obviously is a man, who doesn't give a crap about who likes him, and who doesn't like him. Perhaps Ancelotti doing a runner was a blessing in disguise.

Absolute nonsense when I heard it.. even the most fringe of our supporters are reasonable enough to judge our manager on far more than a derby.. if we win it’s a bonus and will endear the manager more.. losing won’t turn us against him.
