if he was to start moaning about his budget, yes fair enough. But excuses about how Everton are expected to do this year on zero budget after the finish from hell last year, yes he can be given plenty of leeway for that.

Yes mate, every manager will want to know what they've got to work in terms of finance/budget, that will be part off the interview process.

He's done ok so far and we look much better than last season but its 3 games, i just don't get some already making excuses for him for when/if he hits a bad spell.

Barring any catastrophe's he gets a free hit this season by the board, but because of who he is then I'm not sure the fans will see it that way if it goes tits up.

So because he (apparently) knew he had no budget he is still expected to outperform last season when we've lost a player (potentially another) and he's had 1.5 million to spend?

It seems (I'm not saying you particularly) like some want him to hit a bad spell just so they can hammer him and say "I told you so"

He's has a a lot of praise and rightly so for the start, some of the articles written by Joyce ,the echo and O'Keefe in the athletic have been embarrassing in the defence of benitez like he has somehow invented coaching from the touchline
And I am sure the excuses will come forward when if we hit a bad patch .
It's been a good start I've liked the way we have been set up and if we are lucky with injuries we should at least be looking to match last season's points total

That is one of the worst articles about football I think I’ve ever read. The entire thing is based around xg nonsense and ‘progressive carries’ and by doing absolutely no research I’ll be happy to stake my savings on it being written by an American.
We’ve had a decent start and look like a team with a game plan with refreshing pace and hard tackling back in our game - that’s all we can say so far.

No mate I'm not saying he has to outperform anyone really, im saying he cant be using his lack of budget to complain when he knew what he was signing up to.
I actually dont think he will but some on here will use that as their defence for Benitez.

For some people if we finish in Europe it will be 'what a manager' but the same people will say if we finish 16th 'Look at the budget he had' so in some peoples eyes he cant lose.
