This is an absolute behemoth but I reckon at some point I'll read it. Posting if anyone else is interested.
Took the whole day on and off and just finished it.
For those (like me) who were getting more and more infuriated with Carlo’s tactics this article is like manna from the heavens and says everything very clearly what drove me mad.. it wasn’t about 80% possession and being Barcelona.. it was about intensity, pace and showing up.

Rafael hasn’t turned us into a possession side but through letting the ball move at pace and wanting to attack, we are a different team. What the novel says that this appears to be way Benitez plays.

Superb article!

Having read that marathon article I eventually decided to research this new manager of ours and not just go on my dodgy memory ..

You know after hearing from experts across the field, from before he joined us to after, it looks like we couldn’t have asked for a better manager. I gave him my blessing as soon as he was announced, and he had my full support after he was still standing on the touch line shouting at the players after 90 mins even with the game in the bag…
But having read and heard all about him as a coach, tactician and passionate football man.. we genuinely have the perfect man for the job..

A manager that lives and loves the whole city, that wants to build a real project and club from top to bottom.

Of our previous managers since Moyes only Martinez truly had embraced the whole of the club… I believe Benitez is of the same stock. If Mosh provides him with the job security that he has the time to do what he needs to do, we could see a 360 cultural and developmental shift across Everton.

It’s stupidly early but everything I see about Benitez screams perfect for Everton.

Pity we didn’t get him a season ago.

When Rafael was first appointed, i was fairly surprised, but I warmed up fairly quickly mostly because this was a brave move moving to a rival club. Look at the coward Gerrard saying he would never move to Everton like we're a disease or something. At least Jamie Carragher respects us quite a bit.

Rafael's done a solid job so far. I'm very happy we got Rafael, because he actually looks like he gets the premier league better than Carlo.

I like Rafael's pace and quickness strategy. Apart from Michael Keane who we can mostly cover for, we are starting to look pretty quick.

I'm not going all in on the Benitez love in yet but I will say that I am very pleased so far with the tactical approach and that we appear to be redeveloping an identity.

If he succeeds in bringing silver, I'd imagine those few who are still bearing a grudge will be disconsolate. Seems a strange hill to die on for me.

My biggest thing is that from everything I have seen and read, he won't put up with lazy performances and not putting the required effort in and my god have we needed that for a few years. Getting beat is bad enough but some of the football we've endured these last 5 yearsish has been really really atrocious.

He's done alright thus far and long may it continue

It's very early days though and I've learnt from past managers that it's best not to go balls deep into hero worship of the new gaffer before they've actually had a chance to really show us what they are capable of

That happened with Martinez and it led to the forum becoming a pretty horrid place for a while due to near cult like status afforded to the manager by certain sections

So yeah, I'm happy at the moment and I don't really have an issue with the style of play. It's a results business and he's getting them
