Mate, there is zero evidence to back up what is said there. Especially as we bid for the less experienced person afterwards. Doesn't make any sense, however, you lot will use it as another reason to hate.

This is why a DoF will not work out. DoF and manager will have to be on the same song sheet for it to work. Each have opinions on players and direction of Club. Watch Lampard discussing his time at Chelsea and he said he had the right to veto players that the DoF recommended.............so where does it go from there. Only way it would work is if we got a young manager that didn't have an ego and just went along with it and accepted all recommendations..........just cannot see it working out well. I am old fashioned and see the manager as the main man telling the club who he wants and listening or reading Scout reports. Might be old fashioned but then only the manager is held to account unless he is restricted money wise by the club

Yeah it's strange, The Athletic has gone from this interesting non tabloid website that provided good content into some rumour mill that people treat as gospel.

For me it's the right idea with the totally wrong person.

I think you are spot on here. To work in a DOF model the manager (or coach whatever, the bloke who picks the team) really has to have came up working with that model otherwise it goes against what they have learnt and done over their career.

It's a model that can work but you have to have the right pieces to make it work properly.
