Ah. It's the fans fault again. We should clap and cheer only no matter what is served up to us. Got it.
What, if any, responsibilities do / should the thousands of people standing / sitting round the perimeter of the football pitch during a match have to ensure the success of the team they’re involved with?

What actions could they take to maximise the team’s success?

What actions are likely to detract from success?

Some quotes....

“Today we continued the same way and when we finished the session, I encouraged the players to be sure we go there with the idea to win the game.

“When I say that… it is not being on the front foot.

“Chelsea are strong and, sometimes, you have to win on the counter-attack.

“Everybody can see the top sides normally have the possession and are on top of you, they push and push.

I wonder what that means then?!? FFS

It`ll be a long long night... again I feel sorry for the lads going to this game, we wont even get out of our own half, absolutely nothing to shout about other than getting the manager sacked.

Am still waiting to hear who all these Benitez haters want to replace him with who is going to miraculously turn the team into a top ten team this season.
I bet if he was replaced they would claim any wins from the easier fixtures coming up after Xmas and New Year was down to the new manager and Benitez would never of won them so you can never win with people like that.

They always say you can really see the true identity of a fanbase when things are bad and that applies here with the name calling and treatment of the manager, a good fanbase bonds together firmer during adversity not splits. Yes Benitez was a controversial apointment however look at the other names linked none came close in experience to what this club needs which most agree is rotten from top to bottom with a massive clear out it needed, who out of those names was capable of upsetting people and making those difficult decisions to those who had it cushy for years under previous regimes..Nuno.. Potter or even Duncan.. don’t think so.
Funnily enough similar points were made about who could we get around the time of Mike Walker’s sacking and Walter Smith. Those changes worked although clearly others haven’t. There are no guarantees which certainly makes me a nervous bunny.
Speaking personally I don’t have such a wide knowledge of managers around the world to give specific names but I would say the type can be described. Younger, less antagonistic, less manipulative, less controversial, less prone to blame others when things go wrong, less likely to provoke confrontation, more likely to promote youth and play attacking football rather than park the bus and hope to counter as the default.
But while it is true that person might be hard to find it has to be weighed against the performance of the current incumbent which is why I asked you earlier which elements of being a manager you think Benitez is performing well at the moment. I am still interested in hearing you opinion on that if you have a minute.

The actions they take to maximise the teams success, is to do everything in their power to hasten the departure of the washed up dinosaur in charge.

If you don't think we would chase other managers for this form then you havent been a blue while we had Martinez, Koeman, and Silva.

Benitez is doing a worse job than ALL of then.
They never got judged through an injury crisis as soon as he walked through the door.

People wanted Potter as manager and his team Brighton have not won in ten games.. the longest run without a win in the league.. some people should be careful what they wish for.

A hire and fire mentality won’t help the club - nor will fan pressure

Reading much of what’s said on here there’s often a substantial lack of awareness re what’s really going on in the club yet strong opinions held nonetheless

It’s like maybe people aren’t happy in their own lives and so need this as a vent

If that’s what supporting Everton really is then fair enough but it won’t help the success of the team

Whoever is running the supporter groups could perhaps start running educational sessions?

Can't win on the counter attack if;

  1. We are absolutely toothless in attack.
  2. We concede when the opposition attacks.

We've scored 8 goals in our last 10 PL games. Over that time only Brighton and Norwich have scored less (2), but they've conceded less and have more points than us during that time.

We've conceded 21 goals in our last 10 games, only Watford have conceded 1 more.

What a moron.

You do understand human emotions right?

The way people keep saying give him a chance are almost robotic in how they expect people to just "forget" the past.

It would be nice if they could and life would probably be easier if they did but they wont do that. Its not really in a humans (especially a football fans) nature.

I really don't understand how people struggle with this concept. Maybe I don't understand human emotions either from the other side?
I don’t really get it then if that’s the case, the way I see it is this.. if a person can come in and make you better what’s the problem unless you want to let personal feelings get in the way..

Quick question.. would you accept Steven Gerrard if he got you a top four place

So, you actually mean that, no matter what negative dross is served up to us, we should cheer them like the 1970 Brazil team? If it's not good enough the fans are entitled to let the team, the club and, yes, the manager know that it's not good enough. People like you would have us cheer them down to the championship.

Since we were last in Europe we have fallen down the pecking order quite substantially.... Dont forget we were talking about the big 4 then, its now 6 and we saw ourselves as 7th. Leicester have muscled in pushing us to 8th, West Ham have now wedged themselves above us in the pecking order which takes us to 9th. Aston Villa with their investment and Stevie G have now put themselves above us and are looking strong for Europe with a very good squad which cost a quarter of ours, 10th.

I fear that losing to Newcastle will put them 5 behind AND give them a great chance of staying up which means come January they will be spending, and with some of the players they have with 4/5 good additions will see them have a good run and stay in the division, you know what will follow after that. Obviously after the plight we find ourselves in we know how FFP and the PL sustainability rules work, their accounts shoe profits of £58.9m in 2018, profits of £53.5m in 2019 and we are yet to see 2020 results. On that basis Newcastle will have AT LEAST £112m to spend plus the allowed £105m losses, so a £200m splurge is not out of the question BUT the PL sponsorship embargo has finished so stadium naming rights and other sponsorship avenues open for them. Maybe not this season but definitely next season or the season after these will also be ahead of us.

What an absolute time to be alive where our championship is to win the top of bottom half of the league..... A manager that no one else wants because he is dated and frankly no good anymore... No money to spend, we are worse off now than under Kenwright... Disharmony in the squad and having to sell our most valuable assets... The most unpopular manager and statistically one of the worst in our history sacking back room staff...

This reminds me alot of the Venkys at Blackburn, where are they now? The same fate awaits Everton....

Absolutely breaks my heart! ?
You can probably add Palace to that list as well, starting from a much higher place than us....

We are a bottom half team, WITH THIS MANAGER.
