So, you actually mean that, no matter what negative dross is served up to us, we should cheer them like the 1970 Brazil team? If it's not good enough the fans are entitled to let the team, the club and, yes, the manager know that it's not good enough. People like you would have us cheer them down to the championship.
This is part of the problem - ‘entitled’

People showing up at the ground, thinking because they’ve paid to get in that their responsibility ends there - a sense of entitlement then that the team owes them something and they have no part to play themselves

There just seems to be very little thought put into what’s brought a situation about - and very quick to introduce negativity if results are poor

Much of what Benitez is saying in his press conferences is logic based but some ‘fans’ aren’t thinking that way

Do you expect a hammering in your job if going through a difficult patch or do you appreciate some positive teamwork through tough times?

Am still waiting to hear who all these Benitez haters want to replace him with who is going to miraculously turn the team into a top ten team this season.
I bet if he was replaced they would claim any wins from the easier fixtures coming up after Xmas and New Year was down to the new manager and Benitez would never of won them so you can never win with people like that.

They always say you can really see the true identity of a fanbase when things are bad and that applies here with the name calling and treatment of the manager, a good fanbase bonds together firmer during adversity not splits. Yes Benitez was a controversial apointment however look at the other names linked none came close in experience to what this club needs which most agree is rotten from top to bottom with a massive clear out it needed, who out of those names was capable of upsetting people and making those difficult decisions to those who had it cushy for years under previous regimes..Nuno.. Potter or even Duncan.. don’t think so.
Are you looking to take @davek Crown as wum no.1 or trying to get into tge benitez6?

The best way to explain it, us he should never have been appointed, under consideration or anywhere near Everton at all. This is now pretty much proven. You cannot hide from the FACHTS.

We could all see how it would pan out and now the proof us right before your very eyes.
I can't be asked going Iver the much discussed reasons, it's been dine to death in here already but it is far all to see.

Genuinely, targeting the fanbase in here is a truly insane course of action. We all support in varying forms and degrees, each fan pays his money and makes his choices on how they express their opinion, If I were you I would not be throwing incendiary comments re the fans anywhere.

It is toxic, we said it would be, it is dire, it is pathetic for this great club to be where we are, it is a complete piggin shambles Top to Bottom, this is not in question and Mosh IS responsible but as far as on the pitch, its Benitez who needs to carry the can. He is a spent force. He NEEDS to go, he even looked defeated today, in spite of his disgusting arrogance.

We are in deep trouble.

I don't get paid to pick a manager but those that do have right royally screwed up over the last 6 years and this one appointment has really stuck 2 fingers up to a very loyal fanbase. It needs addressing quick.

Needs to be gone after Chelsea.

From there who knows but it isn't working.

Based on the evidence at hand now he deserves to be sacked. Speculating on how good he may be is baseless fantasy that has no place in reasoned decision making.
I can’t stand him honestly and I think he’s been awful ,however If he suddenly turns things around then of course I’d be satisfied we were winning as that’s all I want but it feels a long long way away .

They never got judged through an injury crisis as soon as he walked through the door.

People wanted Potter as manager and his team Brighton have not won in ten games.. the longest run without a win in the league.. some people should be careful what they wish for.
If they were putting up results as crap as Benitez has then they would have been.

Koeman and Silva got us to 7th and 8th in their first seasons and we are nowhere near that now.

I think it's brilliant...

He would do the same if Liverpool were having these problems and we would be peeing ourselves...

Fair is fair...

By difficult patch do you mean be absolutely clueless whilst being highly paid? I'd expect to be shown the door if I couldn't do the job I was paid mega money to do.

I don’t really get it then if that’s the case, the way I see it is this.. if a person can come in and make you better what’s the problem unless you want to let personal feelings get in the way..

Quick question.. would you accept Steven Gerrard if he got you a top four place
But he was never going to come in and make us better? It doesn't matter if people "should" give him a chance, they won't You can't change how people think.

As for Gerrard? No absolutely not. I support Everton because I chose to support them. Our identity means something to me (or meant something anyway) If I cared about achieving success at any cost without caring about who or what achieves it then I would just support Manchester City or whoever the best team is. I do not want success at ANY cost.

Being Everton is supposed to matter. I am not sure it does anymore.

A hire and fire mentality won’t help the club - nor will fan pressure

Reading much of what’s said on here there’s often a substantial lack of awareness re what’s really going on in the club yet strong opinions held nonetheless

It’s like maybe people aren’t happy in their own lives and so need this as a vent

If that’s what supporting Everton really is then fair enough but it won’t help the success of the team

Whoever is running the supporter groups could perhaps start running educational sessions?

What, like re-education camps for supporters, to help them appreciate the true genius of the Supreme Leader Benitez ?????

There’s been some truly mad posts on here, but that’s up there with the best of them.

If I'm not doing what I get paid to do, yes, a quiet chat, then if no improvement a full on bollocking, then out the door,,simple really I get paid to do a job, I have to do it. Not make constant excuses or pass rhe buck.

Is this for real?

The supporters are in absolutely no way responsible for 4 points from 30.

Madness to even suggest it.

The manager and the players are responsible for where things are at.

Unbelievable that this is now become the new rallying cry of the Benitez Boys.

I get what you say about Benitez taking the blame for the way the team plays... so how much of this can Benitez be the fall guy for if the players he has at his disposal are ones he inherited and can’t implement what he wants to achieve out on the pitch..
I honestly get your point about managers having a certain style of play when they get going but if you look at Benitez style of play with other clubs he has managed or when he has had the correct personnel to carry out his orders his teams are not as poor or defensive to watch as you may think.. this leads me to believe it’s because he’s working with players not able to carry out his instructions down to lack of ability..
I’ve looked when he was at Newcastle, and it was basically the same as how we play now. Yes i agree that the players have been inherited so maybe not his first choice but, come on, they dont choose to go out and put 11 men behind the ball at stand on the edge of our own box all game do they!!

I expect to be unemployed if I don’t meet the basic expectations of my job, as would anyone.

Your stance on the ‘responsibilities’ of fans is really weird by the way. I’ll do my best though mate.

Our responsibility is as custodians of the club to ensure that it strives to meet its own stated ethos of NSNO.

Players and managers just pass through, we are the constants. It is our responsibility to call it as we see it and that manager needs to go now for the good of the entire club.

Brilliant that!??

I’d be careful about bringing the salary into it - I don’t believe it’s relevant

It’s not a reason to hurl abuse at people and impact their mental health - thinking ‘they’re OK because they earn tonnes of money’

I saw Ross Barkley not too long ago away from the pitch and he looked pretty miserable

Anyone in any job will benefit from support and patience through tough times

I believe Benitez deserves time before forming a judgment

Martinez is an example of this - he was given time but for whatever reason didn’t set us up to defend properly - in the end he had to go and rightly so

But Benitez is way off that stage and given his track record elsewhere he may well come good

His main problem, despite having managed Real Madrid, Napoli, Inter, Valencia and Chelsea is that he managed Liverpool and some fans can’t get beyond that
