A hire and fire mentality won’t help the club - nor will fan pressure

Reading much of what’s said on here there’s often a substantial lack of awareness re what’s really going on in the club yet strong opinions held nonetheless

It’s like maybe people aren’t happy in their own lives and so need this as a vent

If that’s what supporting Everton really is then fair enough but it won’t help the success of the team

Whoever is running the supporter groups could perhaps start running educational sessions?
How about a loyalty test before the fans enter Goodison too? They have to provide 5 Benitez fun facts to gain entry , his favorite tapas and his greatest accomplishment which is of course signing Dwight Gayle for Newcastle

In that beginning run of form I was beginning to resign myself to the fact he might actually do a good job and unfortunately stay his full contract.

Then the wheels fell off in spectacular fashion and nothing has changed for 3 months. This run of form is the worst in my memory as an Evertonian as my Mike Walker memories are hazy. He should have been shown the door already.

I never actually pictured it going this bad, this fast. Even his most ardent haters would tell you they honestly didn't picture him being this terrible but he's so bad he has lost nearly every one of those who were willing to give him a chance and sit on the fence about the appointment in 6 months time.

A number of posters did, myself included give credit when it was due, unfortunately that is such a rare occurrence now, the death knell has truly sounded.

If we give credit, it has to work in reverse, a harsh reality but reality all the same.
I certainly gave him credit for the points we won in the early few games, however, I was unimpressed by the manner in which we took them. It was fairly obvious even then that our luck would run out if we tried to play in a similar fashion against the stronger sides.

I also gave him great credit for the Brighton game, that was the only good 90 minute performance of the season so far in my opinion.

Who could we realistically recruit then who you wouldn’t envisage shooting holes through at the first sign of a bad run?
First of all my current disenchantment is not solely with the poor choice of manager but on the people who made that poor choice and the ones that preceded it that have ultimately landed us in this mess.
When the new regime came in I expected to see some sort of long term plan , my own hope would have been a competent DoF allied with a young progressive coach whose reputation was on the rise and who was eager to prove himself in the PL. This would have been coupled with a total revamp of the academies. I did not expect any sort of success overnight, 4 to 5years would have been acceptable before concrete results.
We got Koeman and Walsh.
In any case my nomination for the next manager would be Marcelo Gallardo, his contract is coming to an end and he is eager to move to Europe.

I believe there were a good few fella!

We were fortunate in a few and some subs did benefit but yes, not much convincing form when mainly it was 10-20 minute spells.

I’m not sure anyone has put any win down to Benitez’s tactics. Honestly most of these exchanges are people making up wild accusations like:

‘He’s lost all the players’

‘He’s forcing our best players out’

‘We’re getting relegated’

‘I can’t see where the next win is coming from’

When you point out that these things are either unlikely or just factually incorrect you then get accused of massively fan boying Benitez. I’m not sure I’ve read a single post that has praised his tactics or credited them for getting a win. It’s not irrational to point out the logical fallacy of crediting the fans and players for every win but blaming the manager for every loss.
Do you think it’s a happy camp, honestly?

He’s saying today that he met with senior players and said we need to stick together. Do you do that unless you’re concerned that the players aren’t sticking together?

Digne’s all but gone. Vice captain and very popular player in the dressing room. Big pals with some of our better players. Do you think they see the way Rafael’s handled the situation and think “this is a guy I respect and want to play for”? Do you think Digne will be the last when we’re talking about a guy who thrives on conflict?

If you go have a read of the tactical breakdowns and stats from Rafael’s games on SB Nation then it paints a pretty damning picture, a recurring picture. That’s not to say he never gets it right, that would be highly improbable. Is he getting it right enough though?

I dont think certain posters got the enormity of the Arsenal win last week: it secured the January window for Benitez.

I'm pretty certain of that.
I don't think certain posters are arsed and still want to see his fat backside booted out the door.

Maybe he will be safe, if he doesn't win some games with some consistency soon the moaning will only grow.

You saw the away fans at Palace dave. The supporters aren't satisfied with the heads they've had so far, they'll want his soon.

I saw what a handful thought.

I think you're seriously underestimating the deep well of discontent amongst Evertonians for these players. It's been there for years, but now it;s getting to a different level. Whether it comes from Benitez or his successor, I believe our fans fancy a reckoning with these players and some blood on the carpet.

I’m not sure if a happy camp is a good thing with this group though? It’s been a happy camp for 7 years and we’ve been putrid. Players have all been having a great time with each other, there’s barely been a falling out at all and we’ve been absolutely terrible. Maybe it’s about time a few people fell out with each other because a few home truths might finally be getting told e.g ‘you lot are crap and have achieved nothing in ages so maybe try running a bit you lazy arseholes’, home truths like that.

Ah you’re back. Here to explain that outright lie of yours that you keep skulking away from, after playing ignorant for a post or two?

Oh and to be fair not many are expecting him to be sacked, just saying that he should be. Which he absolutely should. 1 win in 10. Ten.

Your boy Bobby got canned for much less. As did Koeman, Bisto and Silva.
