You may be right. But what if the present owner is so loaded, he may be prepared to back another spending spree, to correct the errors made previously, and write off the losses? These owners are not usually football men and take on football clubs as an ego trip to boast about with friends. He may need to repair his reputation when having dinner with other billionaires in Monte Carlo on his yacht. It was Peter Johnson about whom it was alleged he was having dinner on his yacht when a rich friend said why don't you get yourself a football club? It's great fun. That is what led to him buying Everton. Usmanov's so far poor investment may be biting his arse in top society.
FFP would prevent such a strategy

Just a small point , Peter Johnson had already owned Tranmere, fairly successfully, for several years before he progressed to Everton.

I would argue that the present manager's tactics and selection have been dictated by the lack of options available. Guardiola would have got no more given a similar set of circumstances. Silk purse and sow's ear come to mind.
They are the same tactics and style he has habitually used throughout his managerial career including his recent time at the Barcodes. So, sorry , that excuse won’t wash.

Yeah, and Watford are 17th and have only won once since they battered us. It's a funny old game, isn't it?

I didn’t go around saying that Watford were a brilliant team just because they beat us.

That’s the difference.

Watford were a poor team, we played worse than they did, they beat us.

Arsenal are a decent team. We played better than them and won.

Yet because some people hate our manager they’re happy to fully accept our failings for the loss and yet write the win down as some sort of lucky fluke, one for the fans, all thanks to Gray.

Stuff like this just ruins the credibility of the anti Benitez argument.

I think the manager, whoever that is, should control the football side. Don't buy this Director of Football nonsense.
I like the DOF system, just not with Brands and not with oue owner who likes to interfere.

I would always go for the continuity of the DOF system, but, for it to work the club must buy into it and give him control over football matters.
