False. He has said that Digne must to a greater extent assess the team's balance before he attacks. Nothing in the statistics indicates that he has stopped attacking. That's twisting it though. Digne is an important factor in attack and he is naturally a more attacking left back than a defensive one. Asking him to stop attacking (removing his possibility if assisting which we know is one of his best qualities) appears nonsensical.
Yes, at times it has been like that. So criticism of how we have appeared in many matches is completely legitimate. You (and others in support of benitez) keep saying he needs to bring players in to suit his style. I'm still unclear what style that is because we don't have a visible one currently, unless that is sitting back, riding our luck and hoping for one chance.
On a team you have quite a few players, which means quite a few permutations. It is impossible for a manager to take all of these into account. He can of course adjust, but there will always be some players who are dissatisfied. But, in the absence of him having been able to bring his own players, he needs to adapt to what he has. Players suit different styles, and expecting them to just slot into his style is madness, especially when it takes away the better part of their game.
Yes, but there were also some Everton players who were not allowed to use their strengths. Richarlison was e.g. wingback at times, and had to cover for Digne, among other things.Use Keane for example. He looked great at Burnley who play incredibly defensive. He has looked weaker when we have tried to be more expansive. But last year, when ancelotti went defensive, he was being raved about as our best defender again. As his strengths were being played to.
Well, but you should also be able to expect it from the players, be flexible. You belong to a team, a collective, and to quote Fergusen:Until he can bring in his own players, surely a good manager would be able to be flexible and work with what he has got and get the most out of them?
“In my business, togetherness is not just a nice concept that you can take or leave according to taste. If you do not have it, you are nothing. Selfishness, factionalism, cliquishness are all death to a football team… As a manager in football, I have never been interested in simply sending out a collection of brilliant individuals. There is no substitute to talent but, on the field, talent without unity of purpose is hopelessly devalued currency".
