All I asked for was a name...
Literally any one.
I mean, for those 2 things I mentioned, Potter. He wouldn't drive our best players away and the style of football Brighton play is nicer than our 'style'.

Not saying I want Potter, just giving an example for the 2 things that you imply noone else could manage other than benitez.

Not pro Benitez but I am pro stability. If anyone thinks that someone else comes in and instantly sorts out the mess and deals with the amount of absentees we've had they're simply deluding themselves.

He is pushing it to the very limit though and will simply have to get a good number of points from Burnley, Newcastle and Brighton.

No one thinks that but also no one thinks we're moving forwards under the dinosaur.

We’ve got the very opposite of stability atm

More like free fall

At every other club in the world it’s the manager, but some on here would like it to be the left back at Everton. He can choose how he’d like to play and then the manager must adapt his tactics to suit these whims.
That's twisting it though. Digne is an important factor in attack and he is naturally a more attacking left back than a defensive one. Asking him to stop attacking (removing his possibility if assisting which we know is one of his best qualities) appears nonsensical.

You (and others in support of benitez) keep saying he needs to bring players in to suit his style. I'm still unclear what style that is because we don't have a visible one currently, unless that is sitting back, riding our luck and hoping for one chance.

But, in the absence of him having been able to bring his own players, he needs to adapt to what he has. Players suit different styles, and expecting them to just slot into his style is madness, especially when it takes away the better part of their game.

Use Keane for example. He looked great at Burnley who play incredibly defensive. He has looked weaker when we have tried to be more expansive. But last year, when ancelotti went defensive, he was being raved about as our best defender again. As his strengths were being played to.

Until he can bring in his own players, surely a good manager would be able to be flexible and work with what he has got and get the most out of them?

I dont think it is wrong necessarily to speak with the manager about playing to your strengths rather than being asked to suppress them!

Didnt we also read/hear at the start of his tenure that he always wanted where possible for it to be a forward pass? Seems this philosophy didnt last!

Digne should do what the manager tells him, period. If it then all turns to crap then it’s on the manager which is the way it should be.

I’m also of the view that defenders need to be able to defend and then the attacking is an added bonus on top. Digne’s defending has not been on point for a long time and it has cost us far more than his attacking has gained us recently. Most people recognise this surely.

He did. He questioned to use his attributes more to improve results.

It has all gone to crap in the time before digne got dropped. He didn't just call him out in week one. He has done what was asked, we have lost his attacking threat as he stopped crossing the half way line and we still looked abysmal. He then called him out on it and got dropped.

So yes, his attacking hasn't gained us anything recently, because he hasn't been allowed to.
