We are now 5 points and a much worse goal difference from just getting into the top half.

Benitez himself said 8th isn't good enough, but we are now 9 points from 7th, and if we wanted top 6, it's 11 points.

We came 10th last season. Yet, now his fans are claiming he needs time to fix problems. Being 15th is a problem of his making because we were never 15th last season, I mean, how often were we not in the top half last season? Even with an injury crisis.

Indeed. Tenth was the lowest league placing we had in the entire season.

Any of them won the Champions League, europa league, FA Cup, Copa Italia? Any of them got Valencia, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Inter, Chelsea on their CVs?

There’s top level experience, then there’s bouncing around English football for decades. They’re different things
Champions League, 16 years ago
Europa league, 9 Years ago
FA Cup, 17 years ago
Copa Italia 7 years ago

Recent managerial achievements

This is what top level experience gives you:

Relegation with Newcastle
Dalian Pro kept them up by the skin of their teeth in a play off
Got Everton plummeting down the league heading towards another relegation fight

Some teams have played twice since we last did and we’ve still maintained our league position. We could lose two games and still be 15th. Apparently we were getting relegated though.
Kin hell, we were knocking on the door of champions league last season and probably would have made it had we the fan been in at "Goodison".
Something even Benny recognizes is the Goodsion home crowd is above others.

Hang on though, nowhere have I said this is good, but his detractors on here were saying he had to go because he would relegate us. Me pointing out that two games have passed and we haven’t moved out of mid table as a logical rebuttal to that can’t then be twisted as me accepting 15th as good enough.

My position has been clear that whilst any manager of ours isn’t in danger of relegating us, then they deserve time to fix the problems at the club to move us back to where we all want to be (which is not 15th).

His detractors are just flailing between shrieking that he’s going to relegate us to then screaming different versions of a nil satis argument at anyone who points out that they maybe went a bit over the top.
Think 'over the top' may be an understatement but agree with the rest. It may be best to watch the thread from a distance because they are steadfast with a deep hatred of Benitez though some of them will deny that stance thinking it makes the frothing seem a bit more acceptable. Best to let them rant for the rest of the season as Benitez will still be our manager so we will have plenty of them to have a giggle over.

Somebody earlier said Moyes was loathed by some Everton fans. Can't remember seeing any such opinions expressed on here. He may have been disliked by some for leaving us for Man U but surely not loathed? Who could blame him for trying to make it as manager following Ferguson?

For big games Yes. For others it can be a library. We are as guilty as the players for only getting up for big games.

The club has been poorly run for years, money has been wasted by various managers starting their own rebuilding project only to find themselves sacked or wanting away. We bring in another manager only this time we can’t give him money to start his rebuilding project and when things continue to go badly we come up with the novel idea of sacking the manager. This policy of hiring and firing managers hasn’t worked, indeed it has masked the cultural failures within the club. If I thought sacking Benitez would make one iota of difference I would fire him in a blink of an eyelid but unfortunately it would make absolutely no difference. He won’t relegate us, he won’t win anything with us but he just might stabilise us and allow the club time to change our whole approach to how things are run. He may put us in a position were a good manager may see some potential in us and be willing to come on board.
Calling for the manager’s head at this point is akin to asking for a sticking plaster to be put on a broken leg, we need systemic change. If heads are to role they need to be further up the food chain than Benitez, if he is collateral damage then so be it.

Huge match for Rafael on Sunday, considering we should have most of the squad back and they've had a winter break.

Brighton will be very difficult to beat. If we can get a win, it could be the corner turned.

Narr a lot hated him, i was at the Old Trafford game when Oviedo scored and most of the chanting was aimed at Moyes, typical Everton fan negativity nonsense, rather they focus on what he did for us they sulked about what he did while he was the manager of another team, same goes for Arteta really

I have an image of Fergie meeting Moyes and Big Sam in the hospitality lounge at some horse race in 2007 and drunkenly telling Sam the sad news that Davey has been tapped for the Man Utd job when he retires, so he should take the Newcastle job after all.

Sam is sad at first, but soon forgets this after Alex buys him a pint of wine and a jumbo bag of pork scratchings. :pint2: :pint2:

(BTW did Utd really have a "boot room?" If I'm honest I think most of it was in Fergie's head. Can't see Whelan being some sort of coaching mastermind lol lol )
Made me laugh that!

I reckon you're right re Fergies head tho lol.

I'm sure their infrastructure was pretty sound though.

You obviously haven’t read any of @davek posts on Moyes lol

He was loathed well before he left. He was finished for me when he criticised Everton protesters calling for a takeover. Attacked them and backed BS Billy.

His card was marked from that point on with many of us.
