Narr a lot hated him, i was at the Old Trafford game when Oviedo scored and most of the chanting was aimed at Moyes, typical Everton fan negativity nonsense, rather they focus on what he did for us they sulked about what he did while he was the manager of another team, same goes for Arteta really
That was more based on gloating because for that season it appeared we had ‘won’ the exchange of Moyes for Martinez.

Made me laugh that!

I reckon you're right re Fergies head tho lol.

I'm sure their infrastructure was pretty sound though.
I think they were good in terms of facilities, etc. But I don't think they had coaching expertise like the old Shankly Boot Room (was basically Fergie and some trusted assistants), or a more modern setup like Chelsea have.

Ive said it before but if Benitez can move out:

Digne
Mina
Tosun
+ 3 players who arent favoured

...for decent money coming in.

Then that would be something positive if he can add Mykolenko, Patterson and either a defensive midfielder or a right winger...u23 years old and highly promising.

There must be some clear signs of a structured rebuild with young players coming in and a lot being moved on.

Let’s hope so.

If he can clear the decks and get some decent replacements in, then at least some good will come from his appointment.

However, there’s no debate with this club, we are 100% regressing as a force in the PL and have been since Moyes left, with the exception of 1 season under Martinez and Koemans first season.

The trick will be to get maximum value for Mina and Digne. The move on the wages of Gomes and Iwobi along with a couple of smaller sales like Davies and Holgate.

Those 6 players out probably brings in £80mil odd and opens up £450k ish in wages.

Reinvest in young players and rebuild the team over the next 2 seasons.

Doing that wont save him from poor football and bad results but it will give him some additional time if its seen to be rebuilding with a clear vision.

I think we should get a top price for Mina, well taking into account his injuries, a less steessful league would be great for him, everyone know he can play when fit and unlike Lucas there are no question marks on his commitment

Mina's deal expires in summer 2023.

Hes had a fair amount of injuries and will be on circa £100k a week.

He'd be ideal for Newcastle who would gain a top class player but with the injury issues. Its worth the trade for them.

£20mil would be a decent figure due to the above reasons...

I hope Benitez has got a sale lined up which is why Mina has been awol.

Hang on though, nowhere have I said this is good, but his detractors on here were saying he had to go because he would relegate us. Me pointing out that two games have passed and we haven’t moved out of mid table as a logical rebuttal to that can’t then be twisted as me accepting 15th as good enough.

My position has been clear that whilst any manager of ours isn’t in danger of relegating us, then they deserve time to fix the problems at the club to move us back to where we all want to be (which is not 15th).

His detractors are just flailing between shrieking that he’s going to relegate us to then screaming different versions of a nil satis argument at anyone who points out that they maybe went a bit over the top.
You seem to think that this season is the only one in which he can relegate us, personally i think we are in much greater danger next season, at that stage he will have lost Richy and DCL and replaced them with his modern equivalent of the rubbish he brought to Newcastle. His tactics and style of play are dead in the modern game, his propensity for falling out with players, staff and boards is slowly starting to show itself again. We are going backwards at a phenomenal rate under him, but you know what? Let him do his rebuild, let him run us into the ground, just hope the point of no return isnt reached before people cop onto the fact that the man is at least 10 years behind the curve

Maybe he is a really bad manager now and actually has become outdated in the modern game or too hard headed to adapt - but as far as I can tell he's played different tactics and styles of football previously so why not change now when it's going wrong?

He hardly wants to lose his job and I doubt he's that stupid to see something needs changed. He had nothing to spend and a host of injuries with a crap squad to back them up so maybe that's part of the problem but it's not the whole issue for me.

I'm just not sure what it is tbh and I do believe some of the bad run and tactics were done on purpose to put pressure on and get rid of Brands (which I dont think is right of him to do). So it's hard to judge him properly in my eyes until he gets key players in and has all his current players fit. If it's still dire then then he needs to go.

Pattersons not that good defensively imo, hes better going forward which wafa doesnt seem to like or encourage. Leon king 17 at Rangers their young centreback might be a better option before Slippy brings him to villa.

Must have missed when he bought Gray in who is now our best attacking player alongside Richarlison and DCL.

Why would a 17-year old CB with no senior appearances be a better option for a club desperate for a right-back?
Just think wasting money on a rb whos crap at defending but likes to get forward but wont be allowed to by the dinosaur is a waste of money. The cb is just a suggestion cos hes out of contract and wont cost much.
