I don’t even think Benitez has to win a trophy.. if he can stabilise the Club.. sort out the structure and put in a blueprint for the club going forward then he will be seen as a huge success... the plan is to make sure the decade of mess is a thing of the past before the club moves to its new stadium...
It looks like he has made a good start behind the scenes.. by winning the internal battles with the medical side of things and the removal of that awful DOF.. next he will weed out the players with poor attitudes and those who lack the ability and intensity of what he wants on the pitch...
Pity he cant change the mentality of some of the fans who pine for the mediocrity of last decade..

We've had more injuries since we fired that medical guy than before.

Its [Poor language removed] like this that makes me say, screw it, give him his time, give him his rebuild and lets see at what point of the ensuing [Poor language removed] show do people start to realise they have massively backed the wrong horse?

You seem to think that this season is the only one in which he can relegate us, personally i think we are in much greater danger next season, at that stage he will have lost Richy and DCL and replaced them with his modern equivalent of the rubbish he brought to Newcastle. His tactics and style of play are dead in the modern game, his propensity for falling out with players, staff and boards is slowly starting to show itself again. We are going backwards at a phenomenal rate under him, but you know what? Let him do his rebuild, let him run us into the ground, just hope the point of no return isnt reached before people cop onto the fact that the man is at least 10 years behind the curve
spot on

Aldo lad the mediocrity of the last decade, is precisely the reason why i don't want Benitez. We've gone from being a regular top seven/ top eight club, to a club that some fans are now happy, to see just barely avoiding relegation! I want to see this club win trophies, and try and compete with the best teams in the league. We have no hope of achieving any of this, with Benitez as manager.

Can you define what 'stabilise the club' means?
Because id say we have been pretty stable finishing mid table (between 8th and 12 for the last 5 years) and since he came in, we are now 15th.

You talk about fans pining for mediocrity. But then you also say he doesn't have to win a trophy. If you don't win any trophies, are you not just mediocre?

There's way too much logic and reason in this for Rafael's agent

Listen.. I will accept your opinion...

So now give me the name of the person whose putting it right for you .

It’s alrite you telling us what the problem is, be fair and now give us the name of the manager who is the answer to the clubs problems?.

Surely that depends on what you mean by "putting it right" though doesn't it?

I want managers to win more points per game than their predecessor, as you are going in the right direction. Currently Any of Ancelotti, Ferguson, Silva, Koeman and Allardyce were a lot better at that than Benitez, so would all be an upgrade based on performance to date.

They are managers we have sacked for the most, I'm sure there are countless others who can do better than Benitez is managing.

The way I see it is probably like a sinking ship.. the previous managers have all put leaks in it and it’s been slowly sinking last five or six years no matter what anti Benitez fans think.. Benitez has got to plug those leaks and stop the ship sinking further.. that’s what I call stabilising and it’s just what he’s trying to do now by sorting out medical.. DOF.. and players who have had there slippers and pipe for last few years..

This ofcorse is going to take time.. it’s no overnight job and it will move that slowly people will probably think it’s not moving at all but behind the scenes it wil be..
People just need to be patient and Judge him after a few transfer windows and when he has the behind the scenes stuff organised and productive..

Thats whats impressed me most about Benitez so far - Koeman/Silva/Ancelotti had no desire to get involved in any off the field matters which ultimately has helped lead us to the mess we are in.

Moyes and Martinez were the last managers to ask questions of various other departments.

Long may it continue.

Like two peas in a pod this pair. How strange.

So you say sinking. That would imply going down the table. Except last season we finished 10th. Only 8 points from 4th and 6 points off 6th.

That was after finishing 12th the previous season (when the manager came in when we were only 4 points out of the relegation zone and in 15th, spent no money in the transfer window, but he was able to average 1.5 points per game for the rest of that season.) Take that over the whole season and he would have got 57 points and finished top 8.

The following season he did just that, and got 59 points but unfortunately, that only got 10th (would have got top 8 in all but 1 of the previous 20 years).

What he proved is that the squad is capable of getting points totals required for top 8. And actually would have done so, had it not been for Silva.

It's very disingenuous to act as if we are on a downward spiral, because on the pitch we haven't been, until this season. If he gets less points than last season, hell, less than 57, he has failed. Because this squad have shown they can do that.
