When you take so much of a risk to hire someone, you’re going to afford them a lot more time than you normally would

We are doomed, if we stay up this season we won’t next

So depressing that this time last year I was the most hopeful I’ve been

:(

I can understand people being disappointed and pissed off. That part I get.

The part I dont get is after every defeat the posts rammed with "he's got to go now" and "That's the end for him after that".

How do people think that when we know this owner is 100% behind Benitez and he's allowing him to reconfigure the club behind the scenes and now spend tens of millions of his cash?

I dont get it. It's wasted energy.

If we're not in decent shape by the end of the season I'd say we need to rethink the manager situation. But there'll be no change of manager between now and then, and it'd be highly irresponsible if the manager situation did change. One false move and we really could be looking at spiralling to the bottom of the league.

Keep your heads. New players will be coming in and players like Calvert-Lewin will be back up to speed and we'll get our good results again.

We are spiralling to the bottom of the league. 1 win in 12 confirms this.
As for your belief that Mosh is 100% behind the manager, like most things you post, that's just hot air

I’ve always tried to give the benefit of the doubt to the manager.
I wanted our club to move forward so I was of the opinion that we are stronger if we stick together. I wanted Rafael to do well.
Today was an eye opener on 2 things
1. He cut his nose off to spite his face by playing Coleman on the left. No balance to the team and it showed after about 2 minutes. No change as the manager is too stubborn.
2. The defence is shambolic. The coaching frankly isn’t good enough. We concede far too easily especially from zonal marking. That’s on the manager and coaches. We can’t sustain this

I think this is a bridge too far now. The end could be soon.

This club really gets me down
Great post

I feel exactly the same… but, if anything, that ought to give us hope.

Fortunes change so fast in football.

In the words of Boethius:

“It's my belief that history is a wheel. ‘Inconstancy is my very essence,’ says the wheel. ‘Rise up on my spokes if you like, but don't complain when you're cast back down into the depths. Good times pass away, but then so do the bad. Mutability is our tragedy, but it's also our hope. The worst of times, like the best, are always passing away.’”

The Silva example is one borne out of years of the mismanagement of the club.
I'll leave you to wallow in the stats. All I'm saying is that we have an unerring knack of getting it wrong.
I'm on record by the way for my admiration of the guy.

When silva was being appointed i was posting on here why. I couldnt see what he had done that warranted him the job.
Its not a case of wallowing in stats. Its my own two eyes watching a forward thinking coach's team. I pulled chelsea out. I could have easly just said brighton going to liverpool just before that. Took the game to them. Should have actualy won it.
I want to see Everton do that. Sick to death watching Everton go into games like that and roll over so embarrassingly from virtualy the first minute.
Im not suggesting potter could do that with this lot. But then im not saying give him the job for 5 minutes. Like i say no guarentees but we cant have the attitude of we always get it wrong. He looks the best potential i have seen. His teams impress me. He's at brighton lets not forget. Not barca.
