I’ve made my opinions about your decision to give this fella the job clear but everything is due to their own successes and another’s failure . Whether it’s a defender falling asleep or a midfielder not tracking his runner or whatever . A manager has minimal times to impact but when he had to he did whether he had a little bit of luck in there is at your minute probably a little irrelevant, if it turns out to be luck it’ll become more of an issue I suppose .

Ultimately as a manager he didn’t do bad yesterday.

Sssh. I've successfully pinned that on Moshiri. I don't want the bedsheet mob rocking up at my gaff.

So you're saying it's as much about Hassenhutls (spelling?) failure to manage as it is Benitez's ability to manage?
Well we had a similar situation with Silva, who in my opinion was a good coach. We played a good brand of football but when things weren’t working he couldn’t think on his feet and change philosophy. Whether it was he wasn’t good under pressure or he wasn’t a great tactician is open to debate. Benitez spotted some shortcomings communicated it at half time and the team delivered emphatically 2nd half. We played at a good tempo for the majority of the game and we looked ok before the brain fart by Keane that set us back. As for the Southampton. They were given a gift for the 1st goal and their tails were up until half time. You could argue they didn’t respond to the equalizer and their manager has to take some responsibilty for that.

Silva hasn't got and didn't have the experience. 12months he had in any job. We gambled thinking he'd be the new poch

Have to say, I actually enjoyed watching the match yesterday. Nice to see us actually making changes in the tactics to change the game.

Great to see us crossing to DCL. I really couldn't understand why we hardly did last season?

It looks like we're going to play very direct and fast pace. Good start.

Benitez could not have asked for a better start. He had a decent reception by all accounts. Then to be one behind at half time and turn it around emphatically after his team talk.

He needed to start well for obvious reasons especially given the easy start to the campaign. This should give him a bit of breathing space. At least a point away against Leeds will be welcome

I cant get over that reception.

After what he clumsily said about us years ago and didnt correct / explain for years and years until he was pressed to and until it benefited for him to do so, and to be handed a welcome like that was a genuinely moving moment in football.

I felt a lot of pride in that yesterday. A fanbase underlining what a class act they are.

I cant speak highly enough of the Goodison crowd yesterday. Fantastic. Just fantastic.

I will be.

Our new manager is bringing back Swansealona, where as your manager is ushering in Stoke City V2. I wonder what Rory Delap is doing nowadays? Would be a Benitez type signing.

Didn`t you lose that opening game against Blackburn 2-1 ?

No matter, as long as Swansea passed it around a lot, that`s all that matters.

Oh and by the way, I was very impressed with your 0-0 against Sheff Utd yesterday too.

Keep up the good work Bri ;)

It was a lot better than what I was expecting it to be and thought it’d be a clear mix of boos and applause, but while I did hear a couple of boos, it was largely applause. That and the post match reaction since shows that, for me, the vast majority of the fanbase will give him a chance to do well, as long as the football isn’t turgid. Only one game, but I definitely feel better post match, than I did before it.

Did you just … share a video of defenders passing it around in their own third. Against a team that were pressing half heartedly. From a game you *lost*.

Swansealona indeed.
