When Everton win i'm happy, but jesus starting threads kissing the managers arse, all this well done R a f a bs, gimme a break. As the Roy Keane saying goes, do you congratulate the postman for delivering your mail? I'm just making it clear that this manager, will get credit for eff all off me. So when Everton win it's all on the players, and when Everton lose all blame goes to the manager. It's a fair deal i think. I just want to say this now, so people understand my position going forward.

Watched the second half again this morning - at 1-1 Soton were well in this and could have gone ahead as they had us pinned back.

the goals make it seem more comfortable than it was.
stop actively looking for things to complain about, we won ffs come on man even you can enjoy a win without moaning

Im happy we won of course, just an analysis of the game showed it wasn't the second half exhibition that some have attempted to portray it as.

I see Leeds are odds-on favourites to beat us next week, which shows you what the general feeling is around our ability as a team.

So many insecure fans we have lol
Jesus, why are you now banging on about people being insecure in every thread?

It's one game. Of which, we looked pretty shaky in one half, and it took a player who he hasn't coached yet to drag us out of it. At home, to a Southampton side who have sold half the backline and their striker. It's a good start to get 3 points, but he has a long way to go yet.

Like every manager who's been at the club since Moyes - but not once did we have a cult like group of fans desperate for the manager to slip up from the off in order to say I told you so.

I mean reading some of the posts on here it had nothing to do with Benitez yesterday and we only won because Dunc apparently bollocked them in the dressing room and the players just went out and did their own thang.

Switch that round a second and you have all of the benitez cult like yourself, straight in here doing exactly the same. It's one game.

I've done nothing but praise the manager and players for a fantastic display yesterday that had Goodison bouncing 2nd half.

Make no mistake this is still a bang average squad and we'll be lucky to finish above 10th-12th but I fully trust the manager to rebuild the squad over the next 1-2 summers and bring in more fighters and less overpaid strollers which have drained the life out of us these past few years.

Get behind Benitez, get behind the team. Not that hard to understand really.

I have watched some real tripe dished out over the years with small pockets of joy. It’s Everton. I don’t have a relationship with them that is two way. BTW, I had as much joy beating Wimbledon as with Paul Rideout. That is what Everton is and does.

back them all to the hilt, whatever the position

You think this is bad, you should of seen the rubbish posted about Carlo and the weird cult following blind worship he got

I take nothing away from him for yesterday, he desperately needed to get off to a winning start, and he did. I was delighted we got the win, but, it will take a lot more than this to convince me he is a good appointment. The first half was very poor, against a team that have the look of a relegation outfit about them. The second half was a huge improvement and fair play to him, it may well have been down to his small positional tweaks at half time or, of course, it could have been down to a great motivational halftime team talk, however, it might equally be down to the fact that we scored just after the break and a seriously crap Southampton fell apart.

He has been lucky with our early fixtures, they may well get him enough points on the board to earn a little breathing space, but, realistically he is still 2 or 3 poor performances away from trouble, the fans will not stick behind a struggling Benitez I fear and that is the main reason I am against this appointment. I may well have this wrong and, in some ways, I hope I have. Only time will tell

We should be aiming for 59pts + and see where that gets us final table wise
