what scares me most about all of this, if your opinion doesnt march down the path of "multitude thought" then you are branded and harranged as extremist or racist! WTF what happened to free speech? i am a patriot and proud of it. but that doesnt stop me feeling other cultures have very beneficial inputs to MY country. on the same coin there are things about other cultures that i definately dislike, does that make me racist? do me a favour.

From my experience of muslims and Islam (from both living in the Middle East and having muslim friends and colleagues from all over the world) I would definitely say that because of the terrorist activities of very few indeed, it's completely changed the way the man on the street sees them.
What people have to remember is that the terrorists are fundamentalists i.e. extremely extreme and account for a minority of muslims.
It's like saying Fred Phelps and the rest of his Westboro nutters are the face of christianity.

I'm vehemently against all forms of fundamentalism (and terrorism for that matter) but to tar all muslims with the same brush is ignorant at best and a front for bigotry at worst.

The world has moved on and you're talking about events from hundreds of years ago justifying our people being killed on our streets.

It's also well worth remembering that Muslim terrorists aren't just attacking us. They're killing each other en masse. Shia and sunni have been effectively at war for a long, long time. Girls are being attacked and shot in Pakistan in the name of religion.

Nik says it's not a religion of peace. I'd have to agree despite understanding that you could have said the same about christianity up to maybe 100-200 years ago. I also understand that a fair percentage of the Islamic world want peace as much as the next man.

It was in the 1960s that the British Tommy tortured, burnt people alive, rammed broken bottles up men's and women's ar*es and women's vaginas etc. All blessed by the Christian Chaplain.

And the British army has been involved in widespread torture and killing, of civilians, in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Sunni greater Empire 'war' is being armed and enforced by the pro British Saudi Royals, without whose money, the City of London would be in sh*t street and therefore the British economy.

What appears strange bedfellows - savage Islamic Saudi Arabia and peace loving Christian Britain is actually the driving force behind the conflict in Syria - are mutually supportive because they both want 'friendly' governments that will protect the interests of British capital and Saudi Arabia economic interests.

Of course not all muslims are extremists who are willing to strap bombs to themselves. But Islam as an ideology is extreme by nature and if you follow it to the letter of the law then non muslims aren't equal human beings. Brought into modern day western society many of them hold racist and actually quite fascist beliefs. There's this myth going around that because they are ethnic (or the majority are, Islam isn't a race ffs) that they cant be racist. Bollocks. There attitudes to the white or even just the non muslim man is appalling at times. Its why we have this epidemic of all muslim peodophile gangs abusing specifically white young girls because they're religion allows them to. Mohammad had sex with a 9 year old didn't he? Or something like that. Again, ask a muslim girls brothers or cousins if its ok for her to go out with that white boy and see what they say to you. The majority of them would be like 'no chance' and in some cases respond with violence. Ask them what they think of The Jews. Yup. Islam and Fascism run hand in hand.

Also would just like to add that you are ****ting on the work of our soldiers past and present by saying you don't care about your country and that you have no pride in it. People laid their lives on the line so you could sit in comparative luxury compared to much of the rest of the world so I find anti patriotism offensive. On a slightly related note Islam is completely against democracy and completely against integration however you look at it. Our forefathers fought to hard to let that kind of ideology creep in. Islam and Nazism aren't worlds apart. They really arnt.

I have respect for acts of bravery and honour in battle, but I wont be guilt tripped into becoming a 'patriot' with daft lines like that

I've got mates in the army who have lost limbs, and care passionately about them, but I wont alter my own view to match theirs because they are fighting for it. I choose not to be a patriot or nationalist, I choose no religion, that's my choice. I'm not inflicting my views on anyone, nor am I telling them that my views are a disgrace to dead soldiers if they don't agree with me
