Random things you hate in football

Dangerous injuries happen in both sports, and there are lots of different ways to get injured, I don't buy it to be honest, certainly not the extent where American footballers are far more padded up than Rugby players. I'd also argue Rugby is a far more continuous sport. American football seems to start and stop very quickly.

I can see your points.. And believe me when I say I'm not a huge fan of Am. Football anymore.. Soccer is my passion these days..
Just because I don't like something don't mean I should attack it.

Which lends itself to more injuries. Are you au fait with the rules of American Football, do you know how it differs, do you know about Risk Compensation. The statistics are there I'm sure if you look.

Statistics are always very difficult to determine, unless they are following each and every injury since the Sports began I can't take it seriously, to be honest.

I understand bits and pieces about both games, and there are obviously more ways to tackle in American football, and different techniques, but getting hit is getting hit, anything can happen when a player is tackled in either sport. As we see in European Football (Soccer), there isn't one way to excute a tackle, you can't determine how a player is going to fall, or what part of his body is going to be hit the ground at what angle. Injuries are so unpredictable.

I think both Sports are dangerous, and highly physical, but I don't believe there is that much difference that Footballers have to get padded up to the extent that they are, certainly compared to Rugby players. I think it all balances out really, Footballers hit harder, Rugby players hit more. The amount of impact on the body is very similar over a full game in either Sport. Alot of the time it depends on the individual aswell, and there skill/power/technique, not everyone hits the same.

By the way, well done to Kevin Davies for addressing the diving/simulating being shot in today's players.

"When there is not much contact and they go down screaming, it is embarrassing from a man's point of view,'' Davies told the Manchester Evening News.

A hint of sexism there, and then a bit of xenophobia, saying diving is a European thing, which is rubbish really.

His whole game is based around winning debatable freekicks, I've seen him fall flat on his arse under little to no contact right. Basically, he's a big idiot.

The same week Eduardo got his leg broke and the whole Arse squad balled like Nancy Kerrigan I saw a womens match that in which one of the american players got a double leg break. Didn't make a peep and didn't even use a stretcher to get off the field. Men's footie players are some of the biggest wusses in pro sports.

Sorry but this is a well know fact. Latin players treat diving as art and part of the game. Anglo-American players tend to treat diving as unmanly. I'm firmly in the latter camp. There's absolutely no reason to go down like you've been shot. IT'S CHEATING.

I disagree, I've seen players dive from various different continents. Europe, Africa, North America, South America and Asia, it happens everywhere really. It's isn't strictly a 'Latin' thing, far from it.

John Terry doesn't believe you. :)

If you impose the word "strictly" on it then yes you're right. I choose "predominately" and I know I'm not the only one who sees it that way. I'm not blind. The problem is it's infecting everyone now, because they get away with it. So if you don't do it, then you're harming your side.

It just really aggravates me. If you get fouled, then just fecking get on with it. There's no need for rollling around and screaming one minute, then running a full sprint 60 yards 2 minutes later.

If a player is feigning an injury by rolling around the floor in total agony, maybe the manager should be FORCED to substitute him as he " obviously " cannot carry on playing.

Or.....cart them off in an ambulance all bandaged-up. If the hospital finds nothing wrong with them, they foot the medical bill

I disagree, but we won't go into that.

Speaking of American Football/Rugby, I think Sylvain Distin chose the wrong profession, personally.

Either that, or he just had the rotten luck of being born in the wrong century. He'd be right at home on some ancient battlefield swinging an axe into somebody's face. Or in a Roman arena, taking his sword to other gladiators like him.
