The proven ability of Rodriguez, Allan and Doucoure is already evident, but the most promising aspect is the thought that has gone into their acquisition. A clear strategy at play, we had a porous and ponderous midfield but that has been addressed with solidity and running powers of recovery coming in. We have struggled to create but now have quality to unlock defences.
The really good sides have genuine threat in the top third and I’m so chuffed we now have genuine threat in the top third.
Potentially we haven’t seen the best. We have long needed Rolls Royce pace and power in central defence and I believe Godfrey could be the best long-term acquisition of the window. Again, an indication of a transfer strategy. Finally, it seems Brands has unearthed a gem in Neils Nkounkou.
I have no issue with Kean leaving. He‘s been largely ineffective and I don’t think his loss leaves us weaker. It’s difficult to do everything in one window but it’s clearly been very positive.
