Loving the "light up top" shouts. It's a curse really, sort of means we don't all trust DCL to lead the line despite his incredible form. Which is a sound shout.

Tottenham have had this problem for a long, long time now with trying to secure a backup for Harry Kane. They just can't do it. And we were probably very, very close to doing the exact same idiot move as them by signing Llorente.

All that said, i do agree we are light up top, and the best way to fix that is for DCL to continue dominating everyone for the entire season. Let's go!

its more related to the fact that if he gets injured mate. If that happened last week we could bring Kean in, now we can’t.

I suspect Richy would be shifted up front and either Iwobi / Bernard or Gordon brought in if that happened.

And what happens if DCL is out for 6-8 weeks with injury or goes on a dry spell?

You cant rely on 1 CF all season especially when we get to December and play every 2-3 days and have the FA Cup games and League Cup quarter final thrown in its a breeding ground for muscle injuries not being able to adequately rotate/rest.

Absolutely agree with this, as in my last paragraph. We're definetly light up top, at least if we're looking for all-out big-man striker types. But it's not the end of the world if DCL can't play, it's just a few months till the january window, we got out-of-position cover in Richy, Tosun is eventually coming back and maybe Ellis Simms might get a look-in which makes me all sorts of excited.

I am glad that we just did not punt for a striker and end with crap like Tosun and Sandro. If a quality striker is not available better to wait than fill up the squad with more rubbish, and we can still look at Div 2.

Agree with that, but dont go loaning out Kean who's out only credible back up!

Would be nice if you read the news !
I have read it. Apologies, must not have expressed myself very well.

I meant we have started moving on some of the unwanted players. But getting rid of all of them is going to be difficult. Still paying half of Walcotts wages for example. As and when we free up this space there is potential to go big on a new keeper for example, instead of the loan we have got who I think is a steady type.

9 for me, very close to a 10 but letting Kean go seems so bizarre - he was perfect back up for DcL and would have played more this season. That aside, first 11 looks a lot stronger than last season and that’s a pretty good guide to whether the window’s been a success.

All this talk of "what if DCL gets injured. Or what if he loses form". Folks I've news for you all.........he isn't injured. And he's scoring goals.......he's on fire.
On fire. Not just on form. On fire..... Let's enjoy what he is doing. Not thinking about him being injured or anything else.
Some supporters seem bent on predicting future and as still to be injuries.
Hindsight is wonderful folks. But let's not jump the gun.... But let's stick with the present. Last I checked.......DCL is not injured. And he's playing well. Let's see how everything pans out with the guy.
In an ideal world we would all like two players for every position. But that's still a work in progress. Don Carlo I'm sure will have something in mind if the need for a another forward should ever arise.
And lets be honest..........Kean wasn't working out.

Ps.........I actually rate Tosun. And yes I know that he is injured. So at present he won't be used as back up. But when fully fit I wouldn't just write him off.
This is a different Everton set up. A set up now with a decent midfield. A set up with JR spraying pinpoint balls all over the park. A set up creating and scoring goals. Tosun might just buy into and fit into this new system.....
Folks.......imo Tosun is a goalscorer. He might thrive in this new set up. When fit. Who knows? I wouldn't write him off just yet.I

Anyhow.........we are flying folks. The days of getting beat by the RS kids are long gone (hopefully). The days of Silva.....Big Sam and Koeman are long gone.
Let's just try and enjoy the football. And stop worrying about injuries that may or may not happen. They will be dealt with ( like the Brighton match) when they happen. Let's rock and roll.........Up the Toffees.
Pps..........we all know that Ie Proffessor is a good manager. A great manager in fact. But I've a feeling also that he is a lucky manager. The better he is the luckier he is. (Isn't that an old sports saying).
Never felt any of that with our last 4 or 5 managers.......no real luck.......because they really were not that good ( watch useless Koeman burn at Barcelona). I predict that that will happen.
Rant over folks. Enjoy the football.
And it's been a great window for us. Maybe one of our best ever......

Fantastic window.

only minor gripe is that we don’t have much like for like cover for DCL.

I hope the new goalie has been bought to replace T-Rex and not just to keep the bench warm.

I've seen this quite a lot but it's not true really. They originally signed Janssen who was supposed to be the next big thing but just flopped, then they signed Llorente who had just scored 15 for Swansea and had his pick of clubs, now they've signed the top scorer from the Portuguese league. Whether they've done it particularly well is a different argument, but they've had absolutely no problem bringing people in.

Well my issue is not the ability to sign someone, but the efficacy of whoever is brought in is always going to be a problem. As we're lining up, we only need one striker to hold up and finish chances. Playing second fiddle for months and then being expected to turn up big time is no easy task however many you've scored at your last club, like.
