RB Leipzig

Attacking?

Seeing Oliver Glasner which I don't think would be the most watchable football.

Jesse Marsch, Glasner or Matarazzo are on Mintzlaff's shortlist according to German media.

Marsch makes the most sense but there's also a lot of writing where they want someone to continue this possession football which wouldn't be him (and a playstyle that doesn't really suit the league anyway).

I just saw something saying Glasner was favorite now over Marsch. No idea how accurate.

Yeh I think Marsch was everyone's obvious pick but isn't so obvious now. Glasner has a very good record too and played (I think) 3 at the back with LASK which is maybe what they want RBL to continue with.

I love 3 at the back but the club are losing 2-3 CB's this Summer, have 2 new coming in but poss would then need 2 more on top which is just overkill.

Interesting one for sure. 3 at the back is definitely the trend at this point and I get why but it can be bloody boring sometimes.

It can be really fun to watch but this season has sent me to sleep. You need 5 solid CB options to do it and RBL have like 4 with 2 completely untested in the league. If Marsch comes would rather they just go 4-2-2-2 at keep Adams in the middle. Sick of this RWB/RM experiment.

No official announcement by the club yet but it's now being reported the club have, unsurprisingly, chosen Jesse Marsch of Salzburg for their next manager. Whilst Glasner is I'd say the better manager right now his tactics, like Nagelsmann's, would be moving too far away from the RB DNA and onto more boring possession football.

Marsch will/should bring back fast, direct counter-pressing football and reunites with some former players who had success under him like Hwang and Szoboszlai. This could really save Hwang's Leipzig career too as he just didn't fit the old system.
