RB Leipzig

RBL Transfer News

Well this took an absolute age; over a week since it was originally revealed to be complete there have been about 10 twists since then and no one still seems to know the actual fee on the deal but Lois Openda is a new bull! Joins on a 5-year deal from Lens and another forward reinforcement to help ease the departure of Nkunku.

Incomings
- Club are also set to announce the signing of PSG's young defender El Chadaille Bitshiabu (18) early next week who will be joining for around €18m. Absolute monster of a player but looks extremely raw and will only be a project for now.
- Lyon's Castello Lukeba and Feyenoord's Lutsharel Geertruida have both agreed on 5-year contracts with the club but Leipzig so far haven't matched the fee required for either player. Similar to Openda can see these two dragging out for a while.
- Interest in Bradley Barcola remains - my dream signing.
- In a recent Kicker report it mentioned the club still have plans to sign a Laimer replacement despite Seiwald arriving as well as a Szoboszlai replacement despite Baumgartner and Carvalho arriving. The lack of left-back links is worrying!

Outgoing
- During the week the club also managed to shift high earner Angelino to Galatasaray (loan with obligation for around €10m) and Tom Krauss (up to €9m with addons)
- Marcel Halstenberg will be allowed to join boyhood club Hannover 96 for around €2m but only once RBL complete the signing of Bitshiabu - not as fussed about the departure but it leaves the club with only one actual LB in Raum who was really poor last year.
- Gvardiol transfer drags on as City are just unwilling to cough up what is being asked. Feel like this is the domino that seals the Lukeba transfer.
- Andre Silva remains linked with loans away - they would like to sell permanently but he's currently injured so no chance of that.
- Alexander Sorloth heavily linked today with a move back to Real Sociedad for around €15m
- Caden Clark looks set to be off on another loan; this time to FC Twente. Bizarre signing him, literally never seen him play.
- Frederik Jakel also linked with a move to Hannover.
- Ilaix Moriba requires a buyer/loan.

Signing number… 7 I think? I hope this lad has a nickname because I can’t write, read, say or remember his name and I’ve been trying for about 3 weeks. Seems highly rated but hopefully he isn’t deemed Gvardiol’s successor.

Signing #8 of the Summer announced with the loan of Xavi Simons from PSG. Unless Gvardiol gets sold that's it for the transfer window but if he goes it might be 2 defenders (Lukeba & Geertruida) and a "classic 9".

Taken them long enough but City and RBL have finally agreed on a fee for Gvardiol (yet to find out what it is but hopefully they didn't cave). Was only just watching him in training this morning! Has all the talent to become of the best central defenders in the world and wish him well. Hopefully this is the cash injection required to sign his replacements and then the squad is done long before the season starts. Eberl has had a blinder of a first window!

If Lukeba + Geertruida join Simons thats 3 good signings. The first two have massive potential and things seem to have clicked for Simons now.

Disappointing he agreed to go back to PSG after how PSV treated him. That Bitshiabu must have some potential also.

Making some interesting moves.

Gvardiol leaves, Lukeba & Geertruida join.

Gvardiol stays, transfer window is finished.

RBL Matchday

It's time for the first (proper) pre-season friendly of the season as the Bulls host Udinese in Lienz tonight. Will be my first viewing of a few of these players tonight but very much looking forward to how they all combine after some nice routines in training. First Leipzig appearance for Xavi, Seiwald & Bitshiabu from the start. Also starting is highly talented 16-year old Aris Bayindir.

Kick-off is on the link below from 6pm.
