RB Leipzig

RBL Transfer News

Getting closer to transfer window time so little bit of a roundabout of where the club stands:

- Emil Forsberg will leave the club for NY Red Bulls and an attacking mid will be bought to replace for €15-20m max.
- Club had verbally agreed with Granada’s Bryan Zaragoza but he hesitated about a winter move so club pulled out (he’s signing for Bayern now).
- Timo Werner could move on loan/perm for more game time ahead of the Euros.
- Ilaix Moriba will be loaned/sold as he still has no future here.
- Club have sent a written offer in for a highly rated kid at Schalke whose name I could never say or spell.

I'd like to see him stay but ultimately he's way bigger than Schalke currently and has bags of potential and RB are one of the few clubs that will develop him properly at least...

RBL Matchday

Double whammy for me tonight with Leipzig kicking off the same time as Everton in their final home game of the year against a tricky Hoffenheim team.

Game is LIVE from 17.30pm

1-1 HT

Game is level after 45 mins. Klostermann opened the scoring after a few rebounds in the box but Kabak level's after another balls up from Blaswich.

3-1

Forsberg almost scores again with a clever flick but great save drops down to Simakan who prods home. 14th different player to score in the league this season.

RBL Matchday

Final matchday of the season in all comps for Leipzig tonight and it's an away trip to 14th plalced Bremen. A win here will cement 3rd place and possibly by joint 2nd with Bayern if they lose their game. This should be a pretty routine win but you never know if holiday distraction sets in.

Game is
LIVE from 17.30pm

0-0 RBL

Been a great game so far. Leipzig hit the post after 40 seconds and dominated the first 30 but then Bremen started to come back into it with 2 brilliant chances. Goal came from a deflected Haidara shot that was pushed into the path of Poulsen to head home but ruled out for marginal offside.

1-0 RBL

Missed the goal but Openda finished at the 18th attempt and from a Forsberg assist on his final (probably) Bundesliga appearance. Go forth, Fosi.

On the back of Forsberg’s departure being announced it looks like the club are acting fast to replace him as an attacking mid with Napoli’s Elmas. Haven’t seen too much of him before.

RBL Transfer News

Forgot I wasn't even around to confirm the arrival of new attacker Eljif Elmas (24) from Napoli. Will join the club for around €25m in January and immediately join up with the group on their training camp. Highly rated but not seen too much of him; has quite a good size though which the squad lacks. He would be playing second fiddle, well third, behind Xavi and OImo anyway (maybe even 4th behind Baumi) but with the latters injury history I'm sure he'll get plenty of minutes. This comes on the back of Forsberg's confirmed departurrer to NY Red Bulls; will be sorely missed and is a "legend" of the nascent club having joined them in the second division and played for 9 years.

There is also news today in Kicker (most reliable German outlet) that Klostermann's deadline to extend his contract has past so he's possibly off in the Summer and will need replacing. Unsure on if anymore January business will be done with injured players returning but would love a centre mid and full-back.

The run of very disappointing loans from PL clubs continues. Fabio Carvalho binned off back to Liverpool early. Was a good kid but just couldn't handle the physicality of the league.
