Realistic 22/23 expectations

Im expecting we wont be in the bottom 5, but I also think the likes of Newcastle, Brighton and Brentford are too far above at this point to realistically get in the top 9. Likely 10-14th, with 10 being a big win. Being 8th or 9th would practically mean competing for europe and that would be a bit crazy after last season.

Brighton haven't won for 5 games now. Shouldn't write off De Zebri as he did well in Serie A but clear they've lost something from Potter leaving and he'll take time to implement his own style.

Brentford don't win much away either. 0-0 at Bournemouth, lost at Fulham and trashed at Newcastle so will see how they get on at Villa Park as that's obviously a good chance of away win currently.

Palace didn't really have the look of a top 10 team either, they're very up and down in terms of performance.

Think as season goes on the consistant teams will rise up. From a very poor start West Ham are already grinding their way into top half and if Leicester win at Wolves they're pretty much back in the mid table pack. Some had them as certainties to be relegated a few weeks back.

Said before Fulham have really impressed me whenever I've seen them. They're already on 15 points and I think they should have more points on the board than they do so that's going to be a really interesting game at the Cottage next weekend. I could see them 9th-10th this season.

With a run of luck to injuries and suspensions, we are one Kanchelskis signing short of being a very tricky unit to face. Can see the basics are there, and the more the lads play the tighter a unit they'll become. Just that little bit thats extra special, a real frightener.

We’re on track for 41 points at the moment, based on our PPG of 1.08.

But we took an age to get going at the start of the season and now we’re in much better shape.

If we can avoid major injuries to key players, I think 50 points is achievable - which would put us in the 10th - 12th range.

I’m also getting the impression the lower half of the table will be a bit tighter than it has been, too, so getting a small boost in our PPG could have a bigger impact than usual.

Most importantly, I’m not worried about relegation. Today’s bounce back was something we were utterly incapable of last season.

We’ve come a long way, but there’s still a long way to go.

I will be happy with not in any trouble at the end of the season. The league is really tight if we'd lost today we'd of been in a bit of trouble. So why not just enjoy days like today. It was the best we've played for a long time.

Mid table and a cup run or two. Want to dream of us winning a cup but let's trust Lampard and the players while they go through the process of steadying the ship before implementing the bosses vision.

Comfortably up is all we need. Take stock at the end of the season and figure out what we need to do in order to finish in the lower European places/make a legitimate run at lifting a cup next year. A Wembley trip would be nice for experience's sake, but I would rather crash out of the cups and have a nice, smooth developmental season than get into another relegation scrap because of fixture congestion.

True, Brighton might end up really struggling without Potter, so thats a real possibility. I honestly dont think anyone outside of 6 teams are really going to be very consistent, but thats always the way it is. Its always there for the taking every season but its just about those few who are most consistent and get through their bad spells. Im just not convinced we can jump straight into being more consistent through a whole season than those like Brentford will, so getting above 10th is unlikely. The current top 7 look likely to stay there, and I just see two of the likes of Brentford, West Ham or Fullham grabbing the next 2 spots.

Brentford should've conceded 6 in first half at Villa.

They're certainly not that good away so think they'll struggle to finish top 10.

One of the form teams currently is Leicester City which sums up the premier league nicely so far. On course for their third win in five games and fourth clean sheet in five so they're pretty much back in mid table pack after awful first two months.

Just avoid getting dragged into a relegation battle and I’ll be happy… focus on getting top forward or two in next summer then challenge the top half.

Then when we’re at Bramly Moore, start competing for European places.

Champions League qualification. Obviously won’t win it nest season but maybe 2024/5. Just being realistic ;)

Look at how Newcastle have gone to Spurs compared to the mindset we went there with... Hopefully what we saw yesterday is more like what we will get home and away, we will win more games than we lose playing like that......
