Realistic 22/23 expectations

I think given our current squad, the fact frank has done what every great manager does and built from the back in his first window, and the fact we seem to actually be spending money wisely, what would your realistic finishing position be?

Personally, I see frank as a manager still learning - some times it’s clear to everyone changes need to be made and he’s slow to do that on occasion. But he’s 100% got the dressing room, he’s shown he’s not afraid to change formation up, and it’s clear he gets us & the city.

I’d be very pleased with 8th, and fully expect to finish between there and 12th - after last season for me that’s progress.

We have a good mix of youth and experience.

January is gonna be interesting but not as interesting as the summer.

Top 10...

I think we can aim for 7th to 10th, we have to maintain that Goodison will bring in another 10 wins and hope our away form which has been improved.

The World Cup will allow a lot of clubs to reset and regroup so January Transfer Window will be interesting but I don't see us spending huge only really moving bit part players on like Keane, Mina or Doucoure.

If we could improve our attack, it would be a bonus but prices and fees will be through the roof.

40 points is the aim.

It really isn’t. That’s just one more point than last season and would mean this season had been an absolute disaster with relegation a possibility until the last month of the season, if not the last day.

40 points is the aim. We update our aims once we’ve passed 40 points.

If you’re Nottingham Forest perhaps. Not Everton.

Honestly, one ultra crap season and people are setting 40 point targets, a replica of last season more or less.

A replica of last season would be an unmitigated disaster and completely unacceptable, it is not the aim of Everton to repeat last season.

>52 pts - good season
46-52pts - reasonable
40-46pts - disappointing
anything less - unacceptable

In some seasons in last 5-6 years 46 points has been enough to finish 8th. With spread of points so far you could well be finishing at least 10th and not need 50 points to achieve it.

Considering there was no win in first 6 (and would've been 7 if Arsenal away had been played) then I think reaching 50 + points would be pretty good going.

Put it like this, 8-9 wins again at Goodison with a few draws and that only totals 31-32 points so that would suggest significant improvement in away games compared to the bleak winter months of last season.

Blimey another 10 wins at Goodison! Out of 13 matches. Would be best home run in decades if that happened. Especially as Man. City is basically a write off these days compared to a decade ago and Spurs and Arsenal will present their own challenges.

Much more realistic to get the away form up and running. Fulham will be tough with form they're in, Bournemouth away is very winnable though.

we nearly got relegated last season, and in all honesty, fully deserved it if it happened.

We need to temper our expectations. This season is all about building something for the future. That being said, our goal, technically, is don't get relegated and get one more year through our dreadful signings of seasons past

Next year, after another summer of signings, is when we can realistically aim for higher

Who do you think we are currently? What level do you actually think we’re at? Because I’ve got some news to break to you unfortunately.
