Referees v Everton

They need full transparency. The conversations between the officials should be broadcast so the decision making process can be heard and any personal grievances or bias identified.

It'd also be sensible to have ref's pooled from outside the football community or at least have thorough background checks to pick up conflicts of interest. I am not sure if true but heard the other day that the fourth official (VAR) for the Man City game was from Manchester, apparently on their academy books from 6 and family are all season ticket holders at the Etihad.

If true that is scandalous

Football really needs to take a look at Rugby; they have exactly the same tech but manage to use it without any of this controversy

Exactly this.

Add on the fact that a rugby ref has a much more complicated set of rules to work with and also you`ve got ten fellas on the ground, with the ball somewhere in the middle of it.

If a rugby ref gets it wrong, it`s usually very marginal, an offside , a forward pass by a whisker and it`s not week in week out.

I think this deserves its own thread because it’s getting beyond a joke now. This season in particular I’ve noticed things start to veer away from incompetence and into the realms of suspicious.

Last night was the most overtly bent display of refereeing I’ve seen in an Everton game since... well, since Chris Kavanagh the other week. And erm... whoever the clown shoes team on the VAR was against Southampton. I’m not normally a refereeing conspiracy theorist, but since the introduction of VAR I’m becoming more and more suspicious that there’s some sort of, how should I put it. “Special operation” going on to actually relegate us. Is it possible for an independent body to investigate what’s going on behind the scenes here as I feel like the Premier League and the referees association absolutely stink to high heaven.
Last night was the first time I really thought they want us to go down. It was so ridiculous I couldn't find another explanation, and still can't

Seen clips of Mane diving the other night against Arsenal, ref just waved it away. If it wouldve been Richy the ref wouldve been straight to his pocket.

Mane does about 4 snide challenges a game and rarely gets a booking
Fabinho does 3 yellow card offences before getting a 1st yellow
Fernandinho used to do exactly the same then would pick up a token yellow in the 80th minute

Lampard called them out on it against Coty and they'll double down on Everton now, they'll try and give us even less the corrupt bellends
