Five points off the bottom plus we look like relegation fodder......
Until we started the run of the last 3 games things were looking good.

The 3 games we have had have been tough;

United - Since losing the first 2 games have won 5 drawn 1 and only lost away to city
Spurs - Beating us made it 10 wins in a row at home in all comps.
Newcastle - Since Howe took over have only been beaten by City and Liverpool at home.

Not really surprising that we didn't pick up points in these games but the real test comes in the next 4 before the World Cup and we have to be aiming for 9 points.

I think we go down this year. We look worse than last season and if we get a few key players Injured we are in particular danger.

I also can't see the galvanising at the end of the season that happened this season. We are so toothless going forward it's embarrassing.

It's a struggle to say who the 3 teams worse are at the moment. I would prefer wolves players to ours, or Leicesters, or Leeds. Just forest and Bournemouth who you could make a strong case that we are better than.

It is the manner of the way we play thats worrying......

We've had three tough games I wouldn't have betted on us winning. Even the slightly better (10-7th place) teams we've had in recent past. This weekend will be the test.

I expect us to win on Saturday. I've seen enough from Lampard to think he can salvage enough from the season to remain in situ and have another crack at revamping the attack in January. A couple of good wins will settle things down again. If he can get, say, 8 points from the next four games, he'll likely have enough to be ok by the World Cup. I never rated the Lampard appointment - but the man is here and deserves a fair crack at turning around this sinking ship. I wasn't expecting wins in the last three - but I hoped for a point or even two and better performances. But there are minimum standards that come with the Everton job. A fourth straight defeat will leave him in ever-growing peril, and I don't really have a problem with that. My beef is with Moshiri. He should never have appointed him in the first place. Now, he needs to let him manage himself out of the job - or into our hearts.

I agree with most of what you said but don't agree that he deserves a fair crack of the whip. Maybe if I'd seen some sort of measurable success at any other job he has had.

Personally I think we keep lampard, and change only if we are in danger. He needs time, this may ultimately prove he’s not the man for us, but it may not.

We can’t keep changing the manager every 20-30 games… it gets us nowhere… or only closer to the trap door…

Well, I am all about fairness. Why treat anybody unfairly. If you are going to appoint a man to be your manager, give him a fair go. Otherwise, why appoint him at all? For what it's worth, I don't think the board was at all fair to Allardyce or Benitez. One was sacked despite taking us to 8th and early safety, while the other was sacked after being given 1.7m quid to spend of a summer. I mean, you could argue that they should never have been appointed, but if you are going to appoint them give them a bloody chance. It's utterly self defeating. Sadly, I suspect they've done it again with the Lampard appointment. He was hired because they needed a human shield to keep the pressure off them. Frank had the perfect face. But he's here now and I think he's doing his level best and committing to the challenge. Do I think he will succeed? No. But he deserves to have a fair crack at it. I mean, we're resembling the Conservative party now in our venal, mendacious management.

Yes, a sacking must really be a last resort. If we're cut adrift in the bottom three come the World Cup, he will be shown the door. But if we're hanging in there, he'll stay.
