Yesterday's team had Pickford, Coleman, Mykolenko, Iwobi, Gray, Gordon and Dominic Calvert-Lewin in it. 7 players who all played their part in nearly taking us down.
It's going to be a long process, gonna take a couple of transfer windows and some wheeling and dealing and we really will have to be patient.
There's a better spine in the team for sure and we are staying in games for better without capitulation but Lampard will know the forward options need some major rebuilding work and he'll be fuming at the midfields lack of cohesion the last couple of games.
It does feel like we are currently in a gradual decline that will eventually end us with up not getting out of it one year if we aren’t careful. If you finish 16th, then sell your only good attacker for 60m and then spend the money on other positions, then you will be lucky to stay up.
Our recruitment plan in the summer was fundamentally flawed. We decided to rely on a constantly injured player and sign a Brighton back up. At some point you get relegated when you continually make this many senseless and illogical decisions.
Now I still dont think we will go down this year, but I think we are going to go through the stress and anxiety of it again and it didn't have to be like this and it shouldn't have been like this.
….spot on. Coady/Tarkowski and Onana/Gueye have certainly improved us but think Lampard’s unsure of the right blend in CM. looks like he’s keen on introducing Garner but unsure where he fits.
Patterson will be a plus on last season but Attacking options have to be addressed in January.

Under Ancelotti I had high hopes for Europe, that seems a million miles off now.
Big four games until the World Cup then we have to get more goal threat up top - needs upgrades on grey and gordon.
We haven’t only played 3 games though, we’ve played 11. You can’t write off games homes and away against the top 7 if you don’t make up the shortfall elsewhere. So far we haven’t done that (or looked like it), hence the conversation. Hopefully we win the next couple and this thread sinks into oblivion but at the moment it’s not unreasonable to be talking about it.
Yeah I agree. That's why I find the 'it's been 3 tough games' line annoying, because these things were happening before that too. We're 11 games into the season and I don't think there has been one game where you would come away saying 'we were clearly better than them'. That's concerning. It’s not the results against the last 3 but the performances that are most concerning. Performance levels have declined each game, we are getting worse. Outside of maybe Forest, I don’t think there’s another team in the league that wouldn’t have created more than us last night. We stay in games due to our defence and the way we set up but going forward we are an embarrassment. Once we went a goal down it was effectively game over.
Defo. If we dont we'll be in the Championship.Has to be at minimum planned during the World Cup break, and at least 1 ready to be announced as the window opens
We cant do that. It wont hold.I'm hoping our defence will get us through it
January is key then, I still can't believe we didn't get any loans...We cant do that. It wont hold.
The moment Richarlison left we should have got a quality striker in. Lampard got McNeil in instead.January is key then, I still can't believe we didn't get any loans...
