Ped saying on Toffee TV that even if we somehow stay up, a lot of fans ignoring the fact that we could get a transfer embargo or points deduction for next season. Or even if we avoid those things too we’re still going to have to be careful with spending.

In other words, the squad will probably be mostly the same next season, so we will probably be in the same position again next season.
It's the elephant in the room. If we stay up, I do expect more of the same next season, punishment or not.

The way I look at it now, if we get to the new stadium with our PL status intact, we will have done massively, massively well.

Should we stay up, I'd be a little more confident in Dyche with a full season under his belt but it would all depend on what the commission decides.

If its a transfer embargo, its hard to make a case for us staying up. At the very least there has to be room for free/cheap deals and loans.

Let's get the job done this season first I guess.

Bet we beat Palace and everyone else around us also wins including Forest at Anfield.
I dont think we'll win on the weekend, but I do really fancy us against Newcastle - been thinking about that game for a while. Be a good atmosphere, players back etc

All very true. But depends how long they take to reach a conclusion and if we appeal it so could run into other seasons.

Also...it's about a precedent to set. Chelsea were the only team in the league to have a transfer ban set by FIFA for 150 rule breaches on academy players. Got a 2 window ban, reduced to 1 window on appeal.

The other side is the EFL who just love slapping transfer bans on clubs. Burnley have just been done for filing accounts late. Reading and Sheff United are on embargoes too. And I can't see time limit for them either. They have to wait for the league to lift it.

I honestly feel we'll get a fine and at worse a summer transfer ban. The fact we've cooperated with the league and Baxendale has been helping the government white paper on an independent football review should go a long way IMO.

I agree with that and hopefully it is just a warning or fine but it will still mean we’ve got some balancing to do and that will probably mean player sales and very little spending.

With the likes of Mina, Doucoure, Davies, Townsend, maybe Coady and others all leaving too, the squad will need serious investment to compete next year and I don’t think that will be there.

Oh definitely. Said in a previous thread you're talking 10+ players going.
7 contract expiries.
Coady and Vingere loan deals ending.
Gomes, Alli, Gbamin will be out

Maupay and Onana no doubt will be sold.

It's gonna be tough.

How many points do people think team will be on going into the Bournemouth game if the next two home games are lost?

It's no good gambling everything on winning v Bournemouth if you also need everyone above to lose and there to be a GD swing for a few games aswell.

I'd say 5 points on the road are needed for rest of season tbh. That is a monumental ask.

Would ignore what he says tbh first thing is relegation should be first why would think about next season when this one is not finished. Also he has no idea what will happen if we get a punishment and it could be given to us the season after next season. Is clear that money will be tight but if can spend we will bring players in.
