A lot of people seem to think it’ll come to the last day vs. Bournemouth

I’d say that game is our only likely shot at 3 points for the remainder of the season

My feeling is we’ll be on 31 points entering that game and relegated already

Newcastle 1
Leicester 1
Brighton 0
City 0
Wolves 1
Well all of those teams are better than us so I reckon you are probably right. Still until we are actually relegated then we at least have hope and it's up to the team to show they have the fight in them. Not bothered about all of this positivity stuff as it's completely worthless without the players willing to fight and the ability to win which isn't something we ve seen much of this season.

At this stage of the season, given our position, there really isn't much room for optimism. By the same token, it's one thing to feel we are going down, but it's quite another to spend your entire weekend telling all and sundry multiple times that we are doomed.

We're in big trouble. But we were never going to go on a run of three wins and get out of it. It was clear - at least after the defeat to Fulham - that if we were to escape it would most likely be on the last day after an agonising ordeal. So, here we are.

In all likelihood, we need four points from the next two games. At some point, you've got to help yourself as a club and we need to win one of those next two games. The alternative is to continue to hope the slow bicycle race is something we can win. I fear, however, that even if Leeds don't pull off an unexpected win, Forest might. So, in the end, while it is possible Leeds and Forest don't win another game, we really cannot rely on that.

And if we can't win one of the next two, well, so be it. I'll always be an Evertonian, but fans need to have some pride in their team to make supporting more than simply a duty. To be enjoyable, fans need to see something elevating in their side that they can relate to, something to take joy and pleasure in. Right now, there is no joy, no pleasure, no pride in watching this team. It's rotten to the core.

So, if we do go, so be it. People can catastrophise all they like about liquidation and points deductions and half-built stadiums. But there is nothing we as individuals can do about any of that. So, no point worrying about it. Worry about the stuff we can influence. So, a big atmosphere on Thursday night to roar on our team. Let's see where it take us.

We need Calvert-Lewin, Onana, Doucoure & Coleman to be fit & firing to have any chance of survival, because what’s below them are not fit for purpose.

We also need 3 out of Southampton, Forest, Leicester & Leeds to be more inept than us & unfortunately, like Bournemouth & Wolves before them, they all look capable of a result.

Kenwright & Co have ripped the heart out of this club.

The hope that kills you!

If tomorrow was the last day of the season (table as is) how would everyone feel about our chances?

Everton (H) vs Bournemouth
Leeds (H) vs Spurs
West Ham (H) vs Leicester
Crystal Palace (H) vs Forest
I think I would take it now but we would be in the hands of others regardless of whether we win or not.
Leeds and Leicester would only have to win to stay.

Have to agree with you Kev except i am not sure we will even win that one. We have 6 games left and don't look capable of winning. The away fans were awesome yesterday and still couldn't stop the players making catastrophic errors or being unable to score. Unless there is an immediate change in our attitude and form, all i can see is a couple of draws and at that rate we will likely be confirmed as relegated before the last game of the season.

The board had the major warning last season and not only ignored it but weakened us even further and we have been in a continuous relegation fight ever since. Even though managers and players haven't been good enough and bear responsibility, it all stems from the board and our demise is completely down to them and their really poor leadership and management of the club.

its all very well patronising people who are 'catastrophising', however I would remind you that this is an Everton forum, and this specfic thread has 'Relegation' as its title. Anyone who wishes to avoid the 'doom-mongering' has hundreds of other threads on the site available to engage in.

I'm a Stoke fan but watch Everton with interest as my fiance is a blue. I can see so many similarities when we got relegated. Everton seem to have lost their identity and a lot of players seem to have lost their confidence or interest, which is disgusting when you look at their wages.
I honestly thought Dyche would keep you up but I'm not so sure now. Relegation was an absolute disaster for us and the match day experience isn't what it was. Championship football is much different to the premier league, which Dyche knows well. Personally, I would keep him and give him another season. Having said that, Graham Potter is available and should be looked at as a long term prospect.
Anyway, good luck for your remaining 6 games.

If these 3 results happen (and I’d say all are likely), then we are done before the final day;

Leeds beat Leicester
Newcastle beat Everton
Leicester beat Everton

That puts us 4 points from safety without even counting Leeds’ result at Bournemouth and ignoring Forest.

It's a discussion about our battle to stay up, Kev. Your needs are better served at the local mental hospital.

It's Leeds we need to catch as Leicester play them this week before our game v Newcastle, so let's not lose our heads more than some have now if Leicester beat Leeds, it would probably be not a bad result.
Leeds Have a very difficult run in where as Leicester have slightly easier.
We have to make sure we get something from our next 2 games 4 points would be great

I really dont think so, as I've said my interests in this are purely academic, as I have come to terms with the inevitable. The nutcases are those who are actually affected mentally by such statements - which you seem to be from your post above decrying anyone who makes them.

Indeed. But if we lose the next two, relegation will be a relief. Because we'll have found our level. Sometimes, you got to put the beloved pet out of its misery.
