They play spurs on the final day of the season and we play Bournemouth at home

As long as we are above Leeds going into that final game then we should be fine

I know who I would rather play going into the final game

Harry Kane and son or Dominic solanke and Outarra

Hmmmm
More so if bournemouth is safe on the last day. If not it could be tight.

Absolutely.

Thinking about it, if we lost against Newcastle but won against Leicester - with Leeds losing their next game v B'mouth - that would place us ahead of both on points with 4 games remaining and all three teams facing roughly the same type of run in with no real advantage.

In that sense we have two bites of the cherry here to get where we need to be with 4 games left.
Absolutely spot on.

The incorrect nature of this comment sums up why it was a bad result
Yes it was poorly stated, I admit, so I'll rephrase
Both are 2pts worse off than the team that won would have been
And that is a good result for us because there are 5 matches left
If thursday was the last game, then it would mean we need to win rather than draw and would be a poor result, but it's not
The fact they both lose out on 3pts in one of their easier fixtures is a good thing

It looks like we will need 4 points from Newcastle/Leicester. Then assuming zero return from Brighton/Man City, we will need 4 points from Wolves/Bournemouth to take us to the magic 36 which should be enough to stay up. Possibly less if others badly falter.

With Doucoure and Lewin (especially) back and hopefully Coleman and Onana as well, we should have enough to get these 8 points. I think we will do it. Then the campaign must resume to ensure that this is never allowed to happen again.

It's a good night. Relegation six pointers ending in draws has to be seen as a success and Wolves are safe now on 34 points so think they'll be taking their foot off the gas now. Wish that game was at Goodison rather than Molineux though.

The pesky problem is going to be actually winning some games....if Leeds win at Bournemouth then both will be on at least 33 points (if Bournemouth don't get anything at Southampton) so need to be on 30/31 points soon so they remain in range.

It's going to be tough. Would've preferred to play on Wednesday as get the feeling they'll be a shock result tomorrow so that will ramp the pressure up for Thursday.

On what planet is it probable that Saints beat Bournemouth?

Saints two wins in 12.
Bournemouth five wins in 10.

I mean they may well win but let's not talk rubbish eh.

Southampton beat Bournemouth six months away. I think if you look at the general record they actually have a decent record v Bournemouth even if they don't really regard it as a derby or any sort of rivarly.

So they'll be more confident going into that than playing a Palace who they have a poor record against.

Fulham picked up a few injuries tonight and they've got Southampton away in a few weeks so Saints need to be taking 7 points from those two homes and Forest away to have a chance of staying up.

A draw isn’t ideal as we now need to win on Thursday to get out of the bottom three. Need a point just to keep pace. Another game gone.
Unless we are certain one of the teams is going to go on a winning run of 3 games to pull themselves clear the draw is always the best result as it reduces a potential 3pts into 2pts

Pt. 2

We play City 3 days ahead of the second leg of their semifinal CL tie with Real Madrid.

Unless they are +5 coming off the first leg, they will be resting players. Granted their third string walks into our side but still.
