I've also heard loads say "It'd be nice to at least win some games again".

I'm speechless with this crew.

They have no idea what they're talking about and yet they've been trailing round this forum the upside of relegation all season because "it'll get rid of Kenwright and give us a new lease of life with a reset and a change of football philosophy".

Utterly bewildering.
There's no upside to relegation. There will, however, be change. Given that the current path has proven to be unsustainable, people are simply accepting reality. Relegation is merely the consequence of the path that we, as a club, have been on for 30 years. "Staying up" has proven futile. Even doing so again this year will lead us back to where we are now. So, it is what it is. Grim days whatever happens.

Just because you keep saying it doesn't make it true. We were a poor side before the world cup, we were a poor side last season, with each transfer window our squad got weaker, no amount of good will allows a team to defy gravity forever. If you keep making a poor side worse, and keep recruiting mediocre, or worse, managers to marshall those ever poorer squads the inevitable will happen. That is what is happening. Be a stooge for the board if you want, they don't care about you, this line they trot out that you are parroting is just smoke and mirrors, the fans will still be here when they are gone. I thought you were less gullible and certainly more cynical about the ownerships intentions than buying into their horseshit.
The manager has come in and the club is like the Mary Celeste. It's just him on his own with his coaching staff. And he's had to constanlty field off questions since he arrived about the protests and the question of unity.

Do you think that managers and players are unaffected by this state of affairs? That's an incredible point of view to hold.

We had the social media rebels last week involved in a war of words with Kenwright - which was bad enough - but then issuing a statement that said that if the board stepped down they'd be fully behind the team.

And FFS, what on earth are you talking about here calling out "stooges" of the board in relation to people who've implacccably opposed them for decades?

You're incomprehensible.

That's simply not true. A club can survive the drop and see a sale and be free of relegation worries...it happened to us when Johnson was forced out. We didn't face another relegation threatened season for 24 years - after we'd been sold again to this imbecile Moshiri.

Stop with this fatalistic BS.

Crystal Palace is the only home league game we’ve scored more than once this season.

Man this team is pathetic.
This is a long term problem. I can understand hoping things will click after 10 games, the WC, Christmas, etc, but we’re at the business end of the season and this is one of many very damning stats.

This squad cannot handle PL footy. It’s not gonna click at Leicester, we’re not gonna pull a great performance out against City. We’re going to be relegated. You haven’t got to be happy with it, like, but probably best to get comfortable with it.

I have seen you called many things over the years, a board stooge though lollollol

we have scored only more than 1 goal a game at home 5 times the last 28 since the beginning of the calendar year 2022. And 2 of those 5 games came in the 1st 3 of that 28 games - so you could even say 3 times the last 25 whatever way you want to look at it

Yep. If we do manage to get back up. Our squad will be cut to the bone and it'll be a championship squad trying to cling onto prem status. We will be a yo yo club unless we get bought by a petro state.

The only positive I can see is that we will be a big fish in a smaller pond. We might be able to attract young and hungry players for that reason. But failure to be promoted instantly and we will slowly fall into obscurity and become the next Wednesday (or whoever).

It's going to be sad seeing Goodison half empty.

I still believe we will stay up! One win changes everything (yes I know where is that win coming from?) We have to beat Leicester if we don’t then i fear it maybe curtains. Right now I would bite ye hand off for needing 3 points against Bournemouth on the last game of the season to stay up.

Dave, you're in denial. This board is going nowhere. They are prepared to fire-bomb their own fanbase to defend their untenable positions.

How long did it take Kenwright to "see a sale" the last time? And what happened? He STILL cemented his toxic culture into the walls of the club.

You've fought the good fight - but this boat is sinking. Don't be the conductor of the orchestra while the life boats are being lowered and the Jumbotron happy-clappers are putting on their wigs and lipsticks to ensure they get away unscathed.

They're lashing out because a raw nerve has been touched.

This lot will squirm about now faking that that it's a tragedy or crawl back into the undergrowth.

You're not reading the situation. If you think being involved in two relegation campaigns and surviving them inevitably leads to another relegation campaign then you're out of whack with relaity. We know that the owner is seeking investment and any investors will oust the existing board. We know that our FFP situation is to change for the better shortly.

If you want go with some 'circling the drain' fatalism then be my guest. That's just another way of accepting relegation because things have become hard to deal with.
